Server Group Confusion

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have three servers, all servers use cPanel and each is located in a different country, so i have created three server groups

  1. UK Servers
  2. US Servers
  3. Free Servers

I have assigned each server to its right group and the products to the right servers, however when i create a test order on the "free server" it's being created on the UK Servers or should i say the "default server"

Any ideas where i'm going wrong? I have included a shot of the servers config which may help you understand me better :)

i'm not sure that you can do that - I think they would just be assigned to the default server (as you're seeing).

there is a third-party addon that can allow the user to choose a location (from a dropdown configurable option list) and then that account is assigned to a specific server/group.

it states that it's v6 compatible and, if you read the opening post in the forum thread, there is a link to a free 5-day trial - you might want to use that first before buying it.

Oh right, i thought that's what the idea behind "server groups" was?

Thanks for link btw, i'll look into it ;)

The point of server groups is that you can group them together. This was more of a 'control panel' thing than anything... So, say you had 3 cpanel servers, 4 plesk servers, etc, you could control things that way.

To use products like you're after here, you'd want to create a product for each location, or, like Brian mentioned, go with an addon that might just work for you :)

Hi,

Please change the "Fill Type" option to "Add to the least full server" and that will achieve what you want.

The currently selected option "Fill Active Server" means it will always provision on the default server for that module (denoted by the asterisk).
