Does WHMCS support PHP 8.4?
WHMCS Danny replied to Sudipto Mahmud's topic in Installation, Upgrade, and Import Support
We will provide any information for PHP 8.4 in future releases. You can review our WHMCS 9.0 system requirements documentation for which PHP versions will work with WHMCS 9.0: https://docs.whmcs.com/9-0/installation-guide/system-requirements/#system-requirements Thanks. -
Hello @sahostking Thank you for your message. We are aware of this issue in WHMCS 8.13.4, which is currently being tracked under case WHMCS-26568 with our development team. A hotfix has been attached to this message to address this issue for you and anyone else. Please upload and extract the contents of the attached file into your WHMCS installation directory, allowing it to overwrite the existing files. I hope this helps! WHMCS-26568-hotfix.zip

To clarify, Third-party customizations, such as third-party themes, order form templates, custom hook files, third-party modules, and addons or custom language files/strings, are NOT supported with the WHMCS Cloud. At this time, customizations are NOT supported because they require filesystem access, which is unavailable when using the WHMCS Cloud. You will only have access to the WHMCS admin area when using the WHMCS Cloud. However, we have built two new addon modules exclusively for WHMCS Cloud. These two new WHMCS-developed addons for the WHMCS Cloud allow you to make custom changes directly from within the WHMCS admin area. The two addons that were developed specifically for the WHMCS Cloud are as follows: 1. Theme Editor: This new addon module allows WHMCS Cloud users to create and update custom themes for the WHMCS Client Area. It will create your own custom client area theme and CSS file, and then you can set it to this custom theme under the General tab for the System Theme setting. For more information on using the Theme Editor addon module for the WHMCS Cloud, refer to this documentation here. 2. Translation Editor: This new addon module will allow you to edit WHMCS language strings, which would be the "Overrides" feature on a self-hosted WHMCS installation. For more information on using the Translation Editor addon module for the WHMCS Cloud, refer to this documentation here. Please note that these two new addons are not enabled by default. You must enable them first: Go to Configuration (wrench icon) > System Settings > Addon Modules section of your admin area. Click Activate for both the Theme Editor and Translation Editor addon modules. Click Configure for the addon module you are enabling. Select the admin role groups that will have access to this addon module. Click Save Changes Do this for each addon you wish to enable. You will then be able to access them under the top menu bar Addons menu. I hope that this additional information helps anyone else using the WHMCS Cloud.

vendor directory displays 404 error instead of 403
WHMCS Danny replied to mirtov's topic in Troubleshooting Issues
Yes, this behavior is expected. The /vendor/ directory in WHMCS contains core dependency files and is not intended to be accessed directly via the browser. For security reasons, WHMCS restricts access to this directory, and attempting to access it should result in a 404 error rather than a 403. This is by design to prevent exposure of sensitive files. The .htaccess file inside the /vendor/ directory is part of this protection, but depending on your server configuration, the parent .htaccess in public_html and Apache’s rewrite rules may also influence how errors are handled. Removing or modifying the parent .htaccess can interfere with WHMCS’s routing and URL handling, which is why you noticed a change in behavior when doing so. In general, you should not need to access anything inside /vendor/ via the browser, and it’s best to leave the default .htaccess WHMCS rules in place to ensure WHMCS functions securely and correctly. These are the stock WHMCS Rules: https://docs.whmcs.com/8-13/system/general-settings/general-settings-general/#whmcs-rules I hope this information helps.- 1 reply

Correct, start there, as this error occurs when you have selected PHP Mail as your Mail Provider setting. This would typically indicate that the mail server rejected the system’s attempt to send mail. The PHP Mail function uses the server’s mail() function, which is not always reliable. It also doesn’t generate a friendly error. You would need to work with your server administrator or your hosting provider's support team to review your server configuration and to ensure that the server’s mail() function is working as expected. Otherwise, choose another Mail Provider in the Mail tab at Configuration () > System Settings > General Settings. These other methods are usually more reliable when sending emails and provide further errors, if there is an issue. For further information, please review the following documentation: https://docs.whmcs.com/8-13/system/email/mail-providers/ There is a table in that documentation with instructions for different Mail Providers and how to configure them in WHMCS. I hope this additional information helps!

You can remove the Edit with Sitejet Builder link from the left sidebar menu under the Actions sidebar when logged in as a client and looking at the Product Details page using this hook code: <?php use WHMCS\View\Menu\Item as MenuItem; add_hook('ClientAreaPrimarySidebar', 1, function (MenuItem $primarySidebar) { $actionsMenu = $primarySidebar->getChild('Service Details Actions'); if ($actionsMenu instanceof MenuItem) { foreach ($actionsMenu->getChildren() as $child) { if (strpos($child->getLabel(), 'Sitejet') !== false) { $actionsMenu->removeChild($child->getName()); } } } }); See the attached screenshots showing this custom hook file in place in the /includes/hooks/ directory. The screenshots show that this link is no longer there after this hook code is added. You would create a file named "remove_sitjet_link.php" and add the above code into it, and upload it to your /includes/hooks/ directory. I tested this with WHMCS version 8.13.1. I hope that this helps someone.

TinyMCE Editor for Support Tickets
WHMCS Danny replied to davet's topic in Admin & Configuration Questions
As of now, WHMCS does not provide built-in functionality in the support ticket editor to change font color directly through the WYSIWYG editor used in the admin or client area. However, here are a few important notes: The support ticket editor is fairly basic and does not include advanced formatting options like font color changes. If you're using custom templates or modules, you might be able to extend the editor's capabilities, but this would require development work and is not officially supported by WHMCS. Some users have customized the client area templates (e.g., clientareatickets.tpl) to change the appearance of ticket statuses or text using CSS, but this applies to how tickets are displayed, not how text is entered or formatted in replies If you're looking to add this functionality, it would require integrating a more advanced editor (like TinyMCE or CKEditor) into the WHMCS admin or client area, which would involve custom development. I would recommend posting on the Service Offers & Requests section, or if you know how to code, post in our Developer Corner section, both are located under the Developing & Extending WHMCS forum. Additionally, you may want to vote on this similar feature request: https://requests.whmcs.com/idea/ability-to-change-tinymce-default-settings-for-font-size-etc I just added my own vote to it to try and gain some traction. -
@Asheville Web Hosting To show code only to logged-in users in WHMCS, you can leverage the built-in "{if isloggedin}" tag within your WHMCS template files, checking if a user is authenticated before displaying the code using PHP conditional statements like "if" and "else". If you want to check in the hook file, you would need to use custom PHP logic and possibly the Capsule feature to access the database. You will have to do some testing with the custom hook file on exactly what you are trying to accomplish. If you need help provide the custom hook code you are using so I may check from my end and please provide the WHMCS version you are using as well. @AndyW What is not working in WHMCS 8.8? Using this method to add HTML/JS to the client area using the Output hook points listed on this Index: https://developers.whmcs.com/hooks/hook-index/ Please provide the hook file code you are having issues with and what is not working exactly with the version of WHMCS you are using. if you inspect the client area page, you should see the custom HTML or JS code you add depending on where the page you are adding it to (head, body or footer).

Hello {$client_first_name} in support ticket reply
WHMCS Danny replied to Si's topic in Developer Corner
You would create your own WHMCS Template/Theme and then edit the template file viewticket.tpl as @brian! advised above. For more information on creating your own template/theme please review the following developer's documentation: https://developers.whmcs.com/themes/ The WHMCS updates will overwrite any changes made to the default Six and Twenty-one template directories under the templates directory that comes included with WHMCS. So, the first step is to create your own copy of the template. This ensures your customizations are not lost when updating. See: https://developers.whmcs.com/themes/getting-started/ There are two different methods for copying the template/theme files. Note: You should still check out any new changes for the template when you do update WHMCS in case you need to update your custom template. Please review number 3 in this guide for more information on keeping your custom theme/template updated: https://docs.whmcs.com/system/updates/update-tutorials/prepare-to-update-whmcs/ I hope this answers that question on how to keep your changes. -
WHMCS users and client accounts have separate contact information and they require separate updates to change details like the email addresses. The user management system allows a single user to access multiple client accounts. This separates authentication and authorization from services, billing, and support. To learn how to change the client account and the user account email address so they match please review this help guide: https://help.whmcs.com/m/managing/l/1681243-updating-user-and-client-account-details With this hook added to your WHMCS installation the system will now "Sync" the Client Account Email Address to match the User Account Email Address only when the change is made under the Account Details page via the client area. This hook adds a little "Note" under the Email Address field under the Hello Client! > Account Details section of the client area to inform that when this Email Address is changed, they will be logged out and they will need to log back in using the new Email Address they just set since this hook is updating both the client account and user account email addresses. Here is an example of the Account Details page Email Address field with this note: Via the Admin Area, when a client does this change and the hook was used it will make a log entry just like this: This entry indicates that the Client/User Email Sync Script hook was a success. Now both the Client Account Email Address and the User Account Email Address match for that client account. If there are multiple Users associated with the Client Account, this will only change the Email Address of the Owner of the account. <?php /* This script will update both the Client Account Profile email address and the user account email address when the change is made to the Account Details page for the email address field. Otherwise, you would have to update the email in both places and follow this article: https://help.whmcs.com/m/managing/l/1681243-updating-user-and-client-account-details Upload this file to your /includes/hooks directory of your WHMCS installation. There will be a Log entry when this script runs. @WHMCSDanny */ add_hook('ClientAreaHeadOutput', 1, function($vars) { // Only run if the on the Account Details page via the client area. // The action is going to be "details". This will make sure this message does not show anywhere else. $action = $_GET['action']; if($action == "details") { //Input the message under the Email Address field that they will be logged out after making the change. return <<<HTML <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { jQuery("input[name='email']").after('<span style="color:red; font-size:9pt;"><b>Note:</b> Changing your email address here will sync the email with your User Account. You must login using the new email address you just set.</span>'); }); </script> HTML; }; }); // prevent file from being loaded directly if (!defined("WHMCS")) { die("This file cannot be accessed directly."); } else { function clientowneruseremailsync_changeUserEmail(int $client_id, string $client_email){ // call the API and grab the owner user ID $command = 'GetClientsDetails'; $postData = array( 'clientid' => $client_id, 'stats' => false, ); $results = localAPI($command, $postData); if ($results['result'] == 'success') { // success! $client_owner_user_id = $results['client']['owner_user_id']; if (is_numeric($client_owner_user_id)){ // got a number, so it should be a valid owner user ID // now to perform the update to the user account to match the email set for the client account $command = 'UpdateUser'; $postData = array( 'user_id' => $client_owner_user_id, 'email' => $client_email, ); $results = localAPI($command, $postData); if ($results['result'] == 'success') { logActivity("Client/User Email Sync Script - Emails Successfully Changed and Synced. It should be $vars['userid'] $client_id = $vars['userid']; // get the new e-mail address $client_email = $vars['email']; // call our helper function clientowneruseremailsync_changeUserEmail($client_id, $client_email); } }); } ?> Enhanced Version - Added a checkbox and tooltip In this new updated version of this hook, I added a checkbox/tooltip for the end-users to decide if they want to use this option to sync the Email Address under the Profile page too. Otherwise, nothing happens and WHMCS works as normal. The checkbox needs to be checked before it will run the same hook code to update both email addresses in both locations. (Account Details and Profile sections via the client area) <?php /* This hook script will update both the Client Account Profile email address and the User Account email address When the change is made to the Account Details page for the email address field only. It does not work for the Profile page. This version adds a new checkbox with a tooltip to let the end-user decide if they want to use this option or not. The checkbox needs to be checked for the hook to execute. If the checkbox does not get checked WHMCS works as expected and updates just the Account email. The Profile email account will still need to be updated if they want it to be the same. Otherwise, you would have to update the email in both places and follow this article: https://help.whmcs.com/m/managing/l/1681243-updating-user-and-client-account-details Upload this file to your /includes/hooks directory of your WHMCS installation. Hello, If none of the reports that are pre-made do not meet your needs under Reports > Reports or under Reports > More... menus. Please review the documentation link you have posted in your post for information on creating a custom reports. All of the reports are located in the /modules/reports/ directory and are not encoded. This allows you to copy a report and then modify it to what you would like it to displayed in it. Please review the below blog article that will walk you through on creating your own report. Hello KNK, We have an ImportAssist tool that may be able to accomplish this. Please review this addon tool WHMCS developed at the below MarketPlace link: https://marketplace.whmcs.com/product/46-importassist Here is the documentation for the Migration Guide that explains this tool as well: https://docs.whmcs.com/Migration_Guide#ImportAssist Note: We do not recommend making edits to the WHMCS database directly. In version 7.5 we added automated data retention settings, which allows for the automated deletion of inactive clients: https://docs.whmcs.com/Data_Retention_Policy_Automation Have you tried this feature, as it was also updated in WHMCS 8.0 as well? The system can automatically change the client status now by using the Client Status Update setting to control this. Please review the below documentation on this setting for more information: https://docs.whmcs.com/Automation_Settings#Client_Status_Update If you are unable to use the ImportAssist tool, then you would have to follow the steps on manually adding services, domains and clients by following the Manual Entry section of the Migration Guide below: https://docs.whmcs.com/Migration_Guide#Manual_Entry I hope this helps. Someone may have some better advice with SQL commands but WHMCS Technical Support does not advise making edits to the database directly due to database relationships and the IDs of those relationships to other tables, that could cause issues down the road.

Hi Friends, I have found some users that may need to add certain HTML code for many different reasons to the client area of WHMCS. This could be for tracking code, Google tag manager or a custom Live chat addon that you need to ensure their custom HTML code is added to a certain section on the page via HTML or JS code per the instructions of what you are adding to the client area pages. The best way to achieve this would to use a custom hook. Depending on where you need to place your HTML code on the page, you would use one of the below hooks: If you want to add HTML code to be placed in the <head> section of the page your would use the ClientAreaHeadOutput hook. If you want to add HTML code to be placed in the <body> section of the page you would use the ClientAreaHeaderOutput hook. If you want to add HTML code to be placed in the <footer> section of the page you would use the ClientAreaFooterOutput hook This assumes you are already familiar with creating hooks. For further information to learn how to create hooks please review the following developers documentation: https://developers.whmcs.com/hooks/getting-started/ Once your hook is saved under your /includes/hooks/ directory in your WHMCS installation, you can use the use your browsers developer tools to Inspect the client area pages to check that your code has be inserted where it needs to be placed or where you wanted it to be placed on the page. Instructions: I have provided example snippets below for creating a hook for each section to add HTML code to the client area pages for the <head>, <body> or <footer> sections of the client area pages after the PHP has been rendered. All you will need to do is insert your HTML code in between the <!-- Start insert code here --> and <!-- End insert code here --> comments in the below examples. ClientAreaHeadOutput Hook Example: The code you place in between the comments referenced above will add your HTML code to the <head> section of every client area page: <?php /** * The code below will be added in the <head> section * @author WHMCS Danny */ add_hook('ClientAreaHeadOutput', 1, function($vars) { return <<<HTML <!-- Start insert code here --> <!-- End insert code here --> HTML; }); Source: https://developers.whmcs.com/hooks-reference/output/#clientareaheadoutput ClientAreaHeaderOutput Hook Example: The code you place in between the comments referenced above will add your HTML code to the <body> section of every client area page: <?php /** * The code below will be added in the <body> tag section * @author WHMCS Danny */ add_hook('ClientAreaHeaderOutput', 1, function($vars) { return <<<HTML <!-- Start insert code here --> <!-- End insert code here --> HTML; }); Source: https://developers.whmcs.com/hooks-reference/output/#clientareaheaderoutput ClientAreaFooterOutput Hook Example: The code you place in between the comments referenced above will add your HTML code to the <footer> section of every client area page: <? /** * The code below will be added to the <footer> tag section * @author WHMCS Danny */ add_hook('ClientAreaFooterOutput', 1, function($vars) { return <<<HTML <!-- Start insert code here --> <!-- End insert code here --> HTML; }); Source: https://developers.whmcs.com/hooks-reference/output/#clientareafooteroutput I hope this information helps anyone who is looking on how to add HTML/JS code to your WHMCS client area, such as, a tracking code, Google tag manager or a custom Live Chat addon etc. Best Regards, - WHMCS Danny

Invalid CSRF Protection Token
WHMCS Danny replied to Cubeboy's topic in Admin & Configuration Questions
Do you get any other error at all other than the CSRF error? Please try using the browsers developer tools to see if there are any errors. It will show up in a highlighted red text in the console usually. You should also check the Network tab console too. Now, If this is only happening in Google Chrome browser, you should be able to resolve this issue by disabling SameSite by default cookies flag in Google Chrome. To disable, type chrome://flags in the address bar of your chrome browser and then disable the flag SameSite by default cookies. (This has also been reported with the Edge browser) Safari Browser - You have to untick Prevent cross-site tracking under Safari > Preferences > Privacy -
In In the root directory of your WHMCS installation. So if you have your WHMCS installed under /public_html/whmcs/ then you will find the configuration.php file in that root directory whmcs.

Prevent CustomFieldSave From Actually Saving?
WHMCS Danny replied to IAmEric's topic in Developer Corner
The above hook code works. I tested it but the issue I think is that it is not actually hiding the custom fields. It does not allow you to save the custom fields. Even when I logged in as an Admin and logged in as Owner, I was still unable to edit the field. So this hook seems to just not allow editing at all for the custom IDs you place in that hook. So you will need a developer/programmer to edit the above code or provide you another hook. However, you can also just click on the Admin Only checkbox for the custom field and thats it for it to be only edited by the admin only. If you do not check "show on order form" it will not display these custom fields on the Account Details page via the client area. So, the above code does not allow these custom fields (IDs have to be edited depending on your custom field IDs) to be edited if the "Show on order form" is checked to show these fields in the Account Details page via the client area. Please explain on if you want the client to be able to edit these custom fields at all or what are you actually using them for so they cannot be edited? Maybe that will help one of our community members get a better idea on what you are looking to do... -
How to remove NS fields from VPS order form only?
WHMCS Danny replied to SistemasyServicios's topic in Developer Corner
Hello, The above example is using an IF/ELSE statement, so the first line of code checks the product name and to only hide the ns1 field for the bronze product and you are correct. You would use what you have provided for the value and that is "NA". However, if you do not want to do this for every product you would still use the original value code of "{$server.ns1prefix}" in the ELSE part of the statement or it will not bring over the ns1 value. It would just bring over "NA" each time. So, you are correct if you want to do this for every product, you need to have a value of "NA" in there for validation purposes and you would want to do it for every product you would remove the IF/ELSE statement and just use this: <input type="text" name="ns1prefix" size="10" value="NA" /> I hope that makes sense. -
How to remove NS fields from VPS order form only?
WHMCS Danny replied to SistemasyServicios's topic in Developer Corner
This should be possible with a template customization according to our documentation: http://docs.whmcs.com/Order_Form_Templates To only hide a field for certain products then something along the lines of this could be used: {if $productinfo.name eq 'Bronze'}<input type="hidden" name="ns1prefix" size="10" value="NA" /> {else} <input type="text" name="ns1prefix" size="10" value="{$server.ns1prefix}" /> {/if} I hope this is what you are looking for. -

WHMCS Danny replied to ChrisTERiS's topic in Troubleshooting Issues
That is correct, it is still currently in beta and is a release candidate but it is NOT recommended to update a production installation to a beta or RC. In fact, we always recommend to install a development license in a test environment before updating any production installation to make sure there aren't any surprises or issues. 🙂 If you login to the admin area of WHMCS and navigate to Utilities > Update WHMCS and then click on Configure Update Settings and select Release Candidate, Save Changes and then Check for Updates again you will have the option to update to version 8.1.0-rc.1 -

Contact Form: I can end your business
WHMCS Danny replied to PrvtPilot's topic in General Discussion
I personally have never seen this before but I am sure it is just SPAM or someone messing with you. I would not worry about it but you can enable the Google reCAPTCHA v2 to help stop these messages from being submitted by the contact form. Whilst no human verification captcha is 100% bullet proof, Google reCaptcha v2 is effective. This can be enabled in WHMCS on the Configuration (wrench icon) > System Settings > General Settings > Other tab. Once configured; this will help protect the client registration page, the ticket submission pages and contact form, as well as the homepage domain checker. Configuration settings are located under Configuration (wrench icon) > System Settings > General Settings > Security tab. For more information on securing your forms please review this help article: https://help.whmcs.com/m/troubleshooting/l/878335-blocking-spam-orders -
CORE-15708 Guests can no longer submit tickets
WHMCS Danny replied to xyzulu's topic in Troubleshooting Issues
Hello, Where exactly are you getting this error at? Also, you covered the actual error itself so its hard to see whats happening but it looks like a PDOException error. First make sure that you are using the recommended or at the very least the minimum MySQL server version listed our system requirements page here: https://docs.whmcs.com/System_Requirements I also found an error starting with PDOException in my internal wiki and this specific error message that I am looking at means that the MySQL user does not have the proper permissions for the WHMCS database. Please ensure all permissions are granted for the MySQL user you are using in the configuration.php file but I am not sure if this is the case here since I cannot see the error from your screenshot. If you can let me know what the error is ill be happy to investigate further. Thanks!
