I'm running WHMCS v8.4.1 (current as of this post) and PHP v7.4.28. In the System Health Status there is the following warning:

Your PHP version 7.4.28 is supported by WHMCS. The PHP 7.4 branch no longer receives regular bug fixes and will only receive critical security updates until it reaches its end of life. Please see our documentation for more information.

The next version of PHP is 8, which WHMCS does not support. So I can't figure out why is WHMCS throwing a warning for this? I'm using the most current version of PHP supported by WHMCS and there is nothing I can do. This seems ludicrous.

Are you using CentOS or a RHEL derivate operating system on your server? If yes, you can ignore this check completely because your version is backported.

Example, CentOS/Red Hat will show as default an older version which WHMCS will identify as not supported or insecure but its incorrect. That operating system will keep patching your current version with security and bug fixes even while not increasing the version. As long as you stick to the official repositories you will be fine.
