Stop ticket creation contact/sales preform

Recommended Posts

We have been getting huge amounts of spam submissions on our pre sales contact form from persitient russian users!

The contact.php form is currently diverted to the pre sales ticket form.

Whilst enabling Google captcha v3 has helped somewhat the odd submission still comes thorugh.

That in it self is now managable.

The issue we are having is that spam submissions use a non-existent email addresses. As such we get a bounce back email which is hurting our domain sending rep.

Had a look at:

and whilst that solution might be suitable it will require manual intervention to send emails after inspecting the ticket submission. Not great at all.

Is there not a way to stop only the pre-ticket created from: submitticket.php?step=2&deptid=2 to be stopped from sending a ticket opened email notification to the submitter? Happy to manage the ticket itself in admin (i.e block sender and delete for spam submissions) but stopping the ticket opened notificatio email being sent to them (as they use an non-existient email) is a must.

How can this be accomplished???

I did find a setting in WHMCS a while back that may help.

It appears to be referring to the email send to the customer when a ticket is first created.

Go to WHMCS admin > setup > support > support departments > edit each department and check the following:

No Autoresponder - Do not send the autoresponder message for new tickets.

Another thing to note if you switch to re-capcha 2 you can increase/decrease the level of difficulty which will give you some more control over spam. Of course there comes a point when a capcha may be too difficult and could end up discouraging valid users.
