WHMCS Client Area FTP Mod! CHECK IT OUT!

Recommended Posts

Also, not to put you down since I dont know you, but I kinda agree with one of the last posters, your code is encoded so I cannot see what your doing with the server information...how can I trust your code, you just recently registered, most of the pages on your site do not work and your domain name is whois private and registered just last month:16 Jan 2011 19:38:00 ?

I'm sorry I have to agree. You say you are working with phpwebftp to bring us this software. I just downloaded their package and read the user agreement. According to it you are violating their gpl by encoding the source.

if you distribute copies of such a program, whether

gratis or for a fee, you must give the recipients all the rights that

you have. You must make sure that they, too, receive or can get the

source code.

heapmaster v2 may be a few weeks so i would just test it for now and use it. I can send you source to review everything but i have it encoded so the license code system isnt removed from it. The v2 mod will pull the users website url and cpanel login and pass to the fields currently and will automatically log them in.

Jeremy, im working with the owner as i have stated before. I have permission to recode and resell this mod. Which actually doesnt make sense because i technically recoded the entire mod to work with whmcs so my code is completely different from his it just looks the same and acts the same. GPU/GPL states on there site they encourage you to sell free software for more money BTW.

I would be willing to showcase our code for anyone interested in the mod just to make sure there isnt a security threat.

That is not what I am saying. I never said you did not have the right to resell it. I am saying according to the gpl you are not allowed to encode this. I'm not a lawyer, so I can't really comment on this officially. Really if I were you, I'd be releasing this addon as source rather then encoded.

It gives you several advantages.

Firstly builds trust with the community. Right now you have no reputation anywhere in this community. You pretty much just showed up one day and said here is an addon.

Secondly a source version ensures that we (the buyers) are protected if you just decides to leave one day.

Thirdly it stays true to the GPL of the original source.

Try and look at this from your buyers perspective. Hope this advice helps.

Although the GNU GPL allows redistribution free or at cost; the GNU GP License is a copyleft license; meaning, you cannot make the software proprietary (i.e. encode/encrypt it). Specifically, the following is an excerpt from the GPL license:

For example, if you distribute copies of such a program, whether gratis or for a fee, you must pass on to the recipients the same freedoms that you received. You must make sure that they, too, receive or can get the source code. And you must show them these terms so they know their rights.
As per the GNU GPL, you're free to modify it and/or charge for it; but, you cannot encode/encrypt the source though. Edited by GGWH-James

If un encoded theres no point in selling it really unless its a one time fee because i paid for a license system.

In v2 i may make the availability with no encode and straight source.

But as stated anyone who wants to use the mod may look at the source code to make sure there is no "hooks"

That's not true. You can still sell it, and now you have an awesome licensing script you can use for your other scripts!

Whats the difference in showing people the source and releasing it unencrypted? As well just because you show people the source does not mean its the actual source... so that is counter productive.

jermey i used my mac to screen shot it

Pardon? What does that have to do with anything?

There are a few things about business you should know: Your product is only worth as much as people are willing to pay for it. That being said right now, encoded it doesn't seem like people are willing to pay for it. Your potential customers don't want an encoded version.

I bet you could even charge a bit more then $50 and offer an unencrypted version. And people would buy it. I personally see no reason why anyone would pay annually or monthly for this product (other then updates).

Just listen to your customers and their needs and wants. Everything else -including money- will follow.

encoding mods and home calls are practically useless as it make most potentional customers angry - 95% of people who want use your mod seriously will buy it and not use any warezed version, those who play with warez are mostly childs and after component is encrypted they just move on.Event people who use some warezed version will buy it when they go serious with their business. WHats the point - you are scared that your mod will be misused on more domains or whats the point. By encoding and several restrictions you apply your result is only that if affect serious buyers and you loose half of potential customers.

I dont mind encryption and license validation home calls for product by big companies where I can feel at least a bit safe. If a product is from very small company or a single programmer release software encrypted and license validation with mod lock when module cant validate license is crazy.

Even if you assure us you have 100% secure , reliable , powerful and backed up servers you never know what can actually happen to you. WHat if you die tomorrow (sorry to say that , I do wish you good and long life) but you never know. If this happen your validation server goes down soon, mod cant validate liocense , get blocked itself and all your customers gonna be screwed as because of encryption they cant reenable modue and cant continue use it any more.

Many people dont realize how risky is actually buying encrypted and license validation equipped mods from tiny companies or single programmers unless they are aware that they gonna be lifetime dependent on programmers good health... This happened to me already twice. Programmer died (last one was very good programmer with super support) and his server went down, application locked itself and I have to bring down whole site as I was unable to unlock application because of encryprion - loosed many members on my site.....

just my 2 cents... otherwise your application is very promising, but unfortunately no way I buy it encrypted with remote home calls .... its simply too riskey... If you can prove you have an established known company with 50 employess it can be different story throught...

dude you are redicilious.

Im not going to fight with you because im not stooping down to your level mate. My mod works on any them. Its been tested. Your theme how ever was made for you for $20 from some whmcstheme company who you even said was a fraud and fake. If you want good mods to work maybe upgrade from a $20 theme that you didnt even code since your such a "big professional company"

I wasnt trying to take any of your clients, i offered you to source out any clients if you were looking to sell anything, clients, servers, licenses same as i do with anyone i meet. And i never acused you of hosting a porn site. When i clicked the login client a site showed up as the hosting site called wheresmygspot.com that to me would be a porn site? I was just warning you to watch for anything hosted on your server as thats happened to me before.

he gave me access to debug the mod. He had no clue what he was doing and ended up giving me all access. I asked him to swap the theme to portal to make sure the mod fully worked which it did and i had to go to clients and login as a client to test it my self. Everything was working.

You banded me because i asked you one question and you flipped out. Take a deep breath and step back please because your being quite redicilious.
