weird error: Please choose your country from the drop down box

When ever I try or a client tries to register a client account or by checking out on the order form no matter what country they select, or even default USA they get the error

The following errors occurred:

• Please choose your country from the drop down box

I am using Chrome 78.0.3904.108
And WHMCS 7.7.1-release.1

When I use MS Edge browser it works fine

that's not an issue that I see when using the same version of Chrome - with 7.7 or 7.8.3 - so I doubt that it's a generic issue with Chrome or WHMCS, but probably your install.

have you modified the templates in any way ??

not that I am aware of, doesn't an update clear any modifications if there were any?

if you hadn't renamed the theme, the templates should have been updated...

i've seen this error occur when a user has tried to remove the country dropdown field, but you seem not to be doing that..

if it didn't work on Edge, i've had suggested reinstalling/reuploading... are there any plugins/extensions with Chrome that could be causing this that aren't available to Edge ?

late reply, forgot about this issue and yea i even disabled all my chrome extensions and now with WHMCS 7.10.2 and chrome 83.0.4103.106  same error, works with the new ms edge browser

I'm getting the same error.  I found another thread that suggested disabling the dropdown and passing "US" through as a hidden default and that didn't work for me either. 

Any suggestions?
