Licensing Addon for Wordpress

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone, we build WordPress sites for clients and I know we can't license WordPress or any templates we use.  We do a lot of work to build these sites and want to be able to license these sites until they have been paid for.  The problem is that once the site is live, clients can just copy the site put it with another host and we're out of pocket.  We're happy to buy the WHMCS Licensing addon but PHP is not our thing so we wanted to see is a developer could create something for use where the site cannot be used unless the license has been paid, I'm not sure whether this would be a plugin, or encrypted php file etc but we would be keen to hear from any developers who would be interested in coding a solution, thanks.

@seandnz - Did you find a solution to this? I build wordpress websites and some clients pay monthly for them. Ideally I want a way of making sure the site is only usable with a license until their repayment plan has finished. Thanks.

Hello Sean,

If you still have not found a suitable solution then maybe we could help you. Although instead of basic WHMCS licensing I suggest using something a bit better. We have built our own licensing system based on that system which is much more efficient so if you are interested we could modify it to your needs and implement this system for you. Feel free to contact me here if you want to discuss this further. I can promise good price and fast turnaround for your project :)

You can use IonCube, and you can definitely use the whmcs licensing system. You could have two or three tiers. You could even set a trial ( which would make a third tier). You could do monthly, then owned. Move them to monthly after paid completely. If they miss an invoice, you'd want to set the licensing script after calling home to not load the site by saying the license is suspended. Once they pay, the license then returns back to an active status. Let me know. i can help you with this, and help guide you with encoding if need be.

@Andy Thomas Hey thanks Andy, I looked into that but not quite what we want, but still looks like a good product. @mfoland thanks also for responding, we've looked into an ionCube solution but the dev was quite confusing and impatient so we didn't take it further.  We are interested as long is it does not cost a fortune, we would be interested in a custom solution, what do you need to know from us, or is the original post enough to go on? thanks.

@mfoland Thanks for that, I have seen this and have been in touch with the developer but it won't work as I need it to. Thanks for keeping an eye out though, as soon as I do have a solution I will post back here.

Alrighty! I am actually working on a solution... In theory, you'd call the license check before loading the page! Let me know if you have questions @seandnz

Thanks for the heads up, the preference would be to use WHMCS licensing module or a WHMCS Plugin but that's about it, thanks.

@seandnz Sorry about the late response... I'm still offering to help using the WHMCS Licensing Module! I build web applications that use the WHMCS Licensing system, so I'll be glad to assist you! I've also worked on a project with @shadowtek to work with WordPress for licensing a template. Let me know how I can be of assistance. Please feel free to DM me!

Hello Community,

have you already achieved something for this? I would also like a Wordpress plugin with which I can integrate the licenses of WHMCS.

Would be nice if you could keep me up to date.

greetings
Chris

@ExlibreZz yes! I helped @shadowtek come up with something. I've expanded the default sample_check.php code to. I also make use of the WHMCS API.

      Hello,

I'm wanting to get everyone's thought on this. With the Licensing Addon, expired licenses just sit in the database. Is there any way that could be feasible to have this auto prune and remove from the database after they expire? I did create a topic on the requests page, but would love to know your thoughts! https://requests.whmcs.com/topic/auto-prune-expired-license-keys-in-licensing-addon
      Thanks!

So I'm working with the licensing addon, and attempting to figure out the hook part..

add_hook('LicensingAddonVerify', 1, function($vars) { return [ 'Hash' => 'Hash Here', ]; } ); The hash actually shows in the license how it should, but I'm trying to do it since I make several softwares, and not only one, so what I'm trying to do is something like
if ($productid == "prodID number") { add_hook('LicensingAddonVerify', 1, function($vars) { return [ 'Hash' => 'Hash Here', ]; } ); } else -- run get different product It doesn't retrieve the product id at all.. What am I missing here? The hash is basically there to tell the system if a new version has been released.

      Thanks

      1.  Inspired by the huge popularity that WordPress has gained throughout the years, we also kept working on further improving our WordPress Manager For WHMCS module dedicated to this world-famous CMS. Today we would like to tell you a few words about the newest, bulky 1.3.0 update which also labels the module as perfectly compatible with WHMCS V7.7.

Most importantly, your clients will gain the possibility to create staging instances from WordPress installations. This will allow them to safely test out any changes or upgrades that are to be implemented before pushing the website to live. Another practical addition lies in the ability for customers to choose ready instance images of WordPress installations (set up beforehand by either you or themselves).  They can also add entire WordPress plugin packages at once.  And finally, with just one click your audience will enable or disable SSL for hand-picked WordPress websites.

Interested to know more about any of the above points or those that we still did not manage to mention?
Look beneath the surface of WordPress Manager For WHMCS 1.3.0!

      2. Have you heard the news about the lately released EasyDCIM v1.5.4? Guys really went above and beyond what was expected to make sure that data center business owners can enjoy the benefits of their tool in the most dynamic manner possible.
Essentially, they tuned up the intelligence of the entire platform in general by introducing ultimately intuitive navigation through commonly visited forms, and adding lots of useful guidelines regarding device configuration. But on top of that, you are offered a suite of other novel features as well, including Windows Server 2019 support, personalized traffic aggregation graph, and too many other enhancements to list in here.
Discover for yourself that simpler really is better!
