Domain Renewal Procedure

hostingvortex

Question

Hello,

Is anyone able to advise a detailed step by step procedure which WHMCS follows with regards to domain renewals, questions I have are as follows:

- How often do renewal emails get sent out?

- Does the domain renewal email group multiple domains (1 email for 12 domains)?

- Is it possible for a customer to mark a domain as auto-renew and prevent getting renewal emails and auto bill?

- Is there a way for a user to simply click a link and approve the renewal to charge the account on file

- Can we set it so if the user has a payment method on file that the renewal email states if they do not cancel they will be billed automatically?

I look forwards to your responses :)

Regards

Aaron

Hi,

Thanks for considering WHMCS. To answer your questions:

1. As often as you like, there is space for 5 reminders and you can send them before or after the domain expiration.

2. Yes, domains expiring within the same month will be grouped together into one reminder email.

3. The ICANN rules state that the reminder emails must be sent even if auto-renewal is switched on. So WHMCS will send the expiration reminders, and if auto-renewal is switch on for the domain, automatically invoice them for renewal.

4. If the client has a credit card on file, and auto-renewal is switched on for the domain, the domain will automatically be renewed.

5. Yes you could edit the reminder email template to achieve that.
