b0r3d
Sounds like great news but i'm a little taken back by the comment "These two heroes" Very odd statement. On to my question, what's this mean for the future of WHMCS
easyhosting
Sounds like great news but i'm a little taken back by the comment "These two heroes" Very odd statement. On to my question, what's this mean for the future of WHMCS i would think by this statement "cPanel, Inc., will now have a financial stake in WHMCS Ltd." just means that cPanel have bought shares in WHMCS Ltd. i dont think it will make much difference in the actual running of WHMCS software

bear
official announcement made by Matt. You sure? Could be someone at the office, using his login, email, forum account, etc? Surely you're getting the point.
zomex
In my opinion this could potentially be bad news for other modules such as Plesk. I certainly hope that this doesn't have any negative effect on the software and I hope that WHMCS retain the majority share hold. I love cPanel as much as the next person but partnerships like this could limit the amount of options consumers have.
Troy
Seems obvious to me from the language of the announcement that this *should* mean tighter/better integration between the two products at some point in the future. I for one will not complain if that's how it turns out. Users of other control panels might be understandably nervous, but my guess is those will continue to be supported. WHMCS isn't going to thumb its nose at a large portion of its client base and strictly support cpanel. I imagine some better centralized multi-server cPanel management may also come into play with this at some point, which would be great.

I certainly hope that this doesn't have any negative effect on the software and I hope that WHMCS retain the majority share hold. I love cPanel as much as the next person but partnerships like this could limit the amount of options consumers have. This is exactly what I thought upon reading the news. To be honest I've always felt that WHMCS benefits from considerably better usability than cPanel, mostly thanks to a superior UI. In actual fact, I've found this exact simplicity of UI in WHMCS to be closer to Plesk than cPanel. Plesk module development seems quite limited as is, with the built-in modules being very barebones -- they don't account for simple errors very well and the Plesk 10 module doesn't even have statistics updating. I really hope that WHM/cPanel doesn't throw its weight around to make these modules worse, or even just by blocking potential improvements.

jclarke
Sounds great, cPanel is a great product and has a great team as long as you don't drop support for other control panels, this should mean great things for WHMCS's future.

WHMCS CEO Matt Posted July 16, 2012 Author WHMCS CEO Share Posted July 16, 2012 Hi all, I can confirm that the announcement today is most certainly genuine. And I'm here along with the cPanel team in Boston @ HostingCon to announce it. So if you're attending and you want to drop by cPanel's booth tomorrow, it will be great to meet you all. I'd also like to re-assure everyone that our integrations and support for other control panels are not going to change or diminish in importance in any way from what they are currently. And that I'm not going anywhere, and remain the lead developer & CEO of WHMCS. Sorry but you're stuck with me! Matt
b0r3d
Sounds great, cPanel is a great product and has a great team as long as you don't drop support for other control panels, this should mean great things for WHMCS's future. I have to say i disagree. What's made WHMCS so good was they're independent. Not partnered with that of whom they created the software to use with. It expanded and went to other panels. I'm afraid it'll create a bloated software, the partnership will go too corporate style and WHMCS will eventually change in to something everyone will one day hate. It's been great thus far due to it's privately held, independent presence. Change that and it just may be too much change. Either way, too much speculation, not enough information as to what it means. Could just mean Matt goes out for a beer with cPanel staff. Business is meant to grow, build equity so wait and see as consumers, as for Matt in the sense of moving forward, congrats!

malfunction
Thought this was on the cards when whmcs.com started resolving to cpanel.net servers a couple weeks ago. Looks like we've been sold down the river again, not everyone uses cPanel ya know
D9Hosting
Looks like we've been sold down the river again, not everyone uses cPanel ya know Read the post on the previous page, it doesn't mean WHMCS will stop supporting or developing for other control panels. I'd also like to re-assure everyone that our integrations and support for other control panels are not going to change or diminish in importance in any way from what they are currently

easyhosting
cPanel, Inc., will now have a financial stake in WHMCS Ltd. could just basically mean cPanel bought shares in WHMCS Ltd. but look at other businesses like Vauxhall, Opal, Asda etc. all bought out and have they suffered NO, they still operate as normal, so even if WHMCS has been bought out does not mean any changes will be made. infact if you read they are actively recruiting more staff.
