add temporary/potential clients?

I receive several phone calls daily with potential clients, most evetually become clients however I usually manage notes for these clients in text files until I have enough information to fell like I need to create an account for them. Is there any plugin or perhaps a WHMCS feature I missed which would allow me to create a client just to keep notes on when I only have a phone number and a first name for example?

Ah, of course, a CRM system is what I am looking for. There seems to be one from Modules Garden for $199 http://www.modulesgarden.com/products/whmcs/crm/features and then one from Theme Chilly for $99 http://www.whmcs.com/appstore/500/CRM-Addon---Automate-Your-Sales-Process.html

Both do what I wan't but are a bit overkill and I am not looking to spend $100 or more on a CRM at this time. It would be nice with something in the $10 to $30 range I guess.

there is a CRM addon from WHMCSExtras that is now supposedly free - https://www.whmcsextras.com/products/crm-addon - it's seemingly out of stock at the moment, so you may need to contact the author... though you might want to refer to the thread below, as some users from previous years, regarded it as buggy..

as mentioned in the thread, perhaps the free version of SugarCRM will meet some of your needs... for now.

Yes, I saw that one too but figured they had stopped offering it. I will try to get in touch with the author. Otherwise I will probably make something on my own which would just let me add a "lead" and basically add notes to that lead and then a function to convert the lead to a client + invoice/service.

Thanks for the info! :)
