.CA fails to register. Error: Extended attribute: cira_agreement_version is required (eNom)

Recommended Posts

This issue seems to be specifically related to new domain registrations for .CA TLD. We have numerous domains renewing without problems and every other TLDs are registering fine. This makes sense considering .CA requires an additional CIRA Agreement which is mentioned in the error.

I confirmed with testing that the CIRA agreement is checked in WHMCS and everything looks normal so it should be fine. There hasn't been changes to the system beyond WHMCS upgrades. We don't get that many new .CA registeration but in the past month or so, they have all been failing and the only workaround we have found is to manually register them in eNom. This is cumbersome as you can imagine.

So whether the domain is being registered automatically by a new order, or even if we try to manually do it from the admin page, the .CA will fail with the error "Error: Extended attribute: cira_agreement_version is required."

Could this be related to the WHMCS CIRA agreement being outdated? I think CIRA version 2.2 was just released in April, 2022 where the timeline would align since the problem started. Just some thoughts.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @Skyla,

Thanks for taking the time to report this issue. We've recently been made aware that eNom have updated the CIRA Agreement Version (although not in the sandbox we use for testing and validation of releases).

Case #MODULE-7789 is open with our developers in order to have this reviewed for the upcoming 8.5.0 release. Once we resolve cases and push features they are available at our change log, here:

https://changelog.whmcs.com/

In the meantime, please register the domain directly via the eNom website, and it will be available for management and renewal via WHMCS as normal.

I apologize for the inconvenience, and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this.

Thanks again for taking the time to report your findings. We welcome bug reports at https://bugs.whmcs.com/
