xyzulu
I reported this via a bug report on 1 October 2021. My ticket is: #LXJ-185634 I was told back then it would be resolved in 8.3.. and in 8.4 it is still not resolved. I re-opened the ticket and provided a video this time. Still the reply that came back was not fully understanding my original report. I'm still not confident the issue is fully understood and will be resolved. Why does it take 4 months for a simple small issue like this? How do I escalate this issue to have some sort of acknowledgement as to the mistake on WHMCS end? Was there a problem with my first report? The issue is clearly low priority, but what bugs me is the way it's been handled. (see what I did there? 😉 ) /clientssummary.php?userid=98432 /user/manage/98432 These are not the same! Why do a number of activity log entries still mistakenly confuse this? If developers don't know the difference between users and clients how are users like us supposed to understand it? How can the developers fix the issue for "email sent" logs in 8.3 and yet ignore all other logs? (I never reported email sent issues, instead I reported ALL links to users / userid being incorrect in the logs)... again.. 4 months ago. Some people are still waiting for bug fixes from 3 years ago 😁😪
Evolve Web Hosting
And then sadly, when they release v8.5 beta, they'll tell you 'that issue doesn't relate to v8.5' and 'you're the only one effected by this so it is low priority'
DennisHermannsen
Can you share an example of this? It seems to be displayed just fine in our activity logs. See this The client's user ID is different from their client ID. Some clients' user IDs are of course identical to their client IDs.
xyzulu
I see at least the following log entries with the wrong links, there may be more... these are just the ones I have come across in day to day use: Modified Product/Service Pay Method Created Client Summary Notes Updated Edited February 3, 2022 by xyzulu
DennisHermannsen
Oh, I see what you mean. This is a minor issue though. The issue is that the "Log entry" column confuses user and client ID. Both the "Client" and the "User" column shows the correct information.
xyzulu
Yes, minor issue.. low priority was my bug report. The issue is they said it would be resolved in 8.3.. it wasn't.. when I reopened the ticket, they still did not read properly my original post. Finally, after a video for them.. they acknowledged an issue for Pay Method Created only. Again, I tried to make them aware of the actual issue.. still not confident they understand. What bugs me is that they fixed it for the email log entries (I never reported this one to them), but didn't bother to fix any of the other log entries... or even check I guess. Such a strange way of development and fixing bugs. Edit: the Activity widget also shows these incorrect entries/links BTW. DennisHermannsen
Ah, sorry. I completely missed the idea of the post 😅 Yeah, reporting bugs to WHMCS can be a pain in the ass sometimes. We've reported multiple bugs only to have been told numerous times that it's expected behaviour. Our last bug report was about the 'DeleteUsers' parameter for the DeleteClient API call (https://developers.whmcs.com/api-reference/deleteclient/). It doesn't delete the actual owner of the client, even though that user is not associated with any other client. At first, I just received a reply about it not being a bug and the bug report got closed. Someone else had to take a look at the bug report (after my second attempt at convincing them this was a bug) before they finally acknowledged it. So yeah, I get your frustration!
xyzulu
Exactly.. I just want the right people/person to see this bug as I have no confidence it will be fixed (albeit minor). A good developer would have fixed all logs the first time around, not just for one entry (email log entries).

wsa
I tell WHMCS staff that they need to fix all bugs first before releasing any new feature but I guess don't listen. 🙂
