wdele
Nobody knows. Everyone wants to know it. I'm excited for the new client area design. Yes, me too. If possible I'd want to upgrade to v6 before opening my business - the theme is beautiful.
Alex - Arvixe
Nobody knows, probably will be a while yet as I think they will do a private and/or public beta first. If so, we're looking at months away (Though I can't confirm anything).

SeanP
They just released 5.3.10 less than a month ago (9/16). I imagine 6 won't be released until next year, but nobody knows for sure. I'm sure they will do beta testing (hopefully) being they are supposedly changing the MySQL extension to PDO throughout the code. http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?92179-Upcoming-Minimum-PHP-Requirement-Changes

malfunction
It is supposed to provide support for PHP 5.5. Cool. PHP 5.5 has only been out for a year and a half. 5.6.1 is the current stable version.
brian!
When will WHMCS v6 be released? the only people who can really answer that will be WHMCS - and i'm sure they'll post about it when they're closer to a definitive beta release date.... these dates tend to be pretty fluid anyway and subject to delay, so even if WHMCS had some idea, it would be pretty pointless to announce it now as it would probably change. as I understand it, it is planned for there to be beta releases before it becomes generally available. in my personal opinion, and I don't work for WHMCS so I have very little inside info (and what I do was told in confidence anyway!), I would still expect there to be a few updates to v5.3 before v6 is ready to go public... though that's completely in the hands of WHMCS, so I might be completely wrong!
yggdrasil
There is no need to hurry. Lets hope they launch this only when its very, very stable. The current version works very nice and in my experience new things with new software tend to break things. So if its works don't fix it. If they release a new major version, it will take some time, probably next year and only after allot of testing. Even so, I would not upgrade until most people did, because even after all testing, the real bugs are only discovered once people are live or use it in a production system. This is true, not only for WHMCS but for every software. I think there are still tons of updates that will come with version 5 so no rush. I actually would prefer if they release a proper Android app that works and is current with todays standards or finish the beta mobile version before considering a new WHMCS version.

vec
very true.. and some of the WHMCS updates have been lets just say not up to par... There is no need to hurry. Alex - Arvixe
Hopefully version 6 has better sales tax support. Doesn't give WHMCS a lot to go on. What do you want to see change / implemented?
eremini
Wish you'd just provide a beta version with bugs or whatever so we can move away from ancient PHP...
Alex - Arvixe
Wish you'd just provide a beta version with bugs or whatever so we can move away from ancient PHP... It isn't really a good idea to run beta versions in production. It isn't good for your business. You can run it on PHP 5.4 as that is supported / compatible.
eremini
It's absolutely fine, my volume of business is very low and I don't use any advanced features. Not being able to upgrade PHP just cause of one piece of software is absolutely more annoying to me.
ditto
I totally agree with user eremini. It is really annoying not to be able to upgrade php only because whmcs don't have taken this serious enough and is lagging so far behind in that regard.
vec
you guys can run 2 versions of PHP on the same box if you are that worried about it

Alex - Arvixe
Any news on version 6? No public news, yet. Still in development, even then, given how long the previous beta took I'd imagine we're way off from a v6 stable release.
wsd
There will probably take a long time before there is a version 6 as WHMCS not have time to remove SPAM in over 5 months from https://requests.whmcs.com/responses/multiple-billing-accounts-using-one-login And Automatic Update Utility has been In Progress for almost a year https://requests.whmcs.com/responses/automatic-update-utility Edited January 17, 2015 by wsd
