Development of WHMCS has slowed

I don't know about you guys but I have been with WHMCS for almost two years now.

This is just my opinion, but in the early days it seemed that WHMCS was getting more releases/features than now. It just seems every quarter we get a new version. And if they are released as Release Candidates it takes a while for it to go final.

Once you see Version 4 - you'll appreciate how much work has gone into it...

Would you rather it was rushed and you faced problems once it was put into production or wait a couple of weeks for everything to be ironed out?

v4 is ready to go, except that some last minute changes (forced by a LogicBoxes password system change, affecting the NetEarthOne and 3 other registrar modules) has caused some delays while Matt updates the modules for the new LB password system.

I'm not sure if it's totally due to the new password system, since I've been having trouble with NEO before that. Anyway, Matt told me it will be fixed in the stable and will not be updated immediately, since multiple files had to be changed.

As to the development. If you've seen V4, you know why not that many updates to V3 have been released. V4 introduces a lot of new features and it really a leap forward from V3. It's no wonder that development may have appeared as slow, while it actually hasn't been. That's the downside of closed source projects: actual development progress cannot always be monitored.

I disagree also. The more complicated whmcs gets, the more planning that needs to be done not only to ensure a smooth integration but for future upgrades.

I imagine the programming part is the easiest task.

I disagree too. WHMCS has been on the ball in the past 2 years. Non-stop. As a matter of fact, I don't recall not receiveing an update in more than a quarter's time.

Maybe you missed some updates ?

I am pretty happy with WHMCS' continuous work.

I also fully support the WHMCS development team as well as, especially, them taking their time before releasing v4.0.

To my mind, especially since 3.8.2 is highly usable, I appreciate the stability. I do not want v 4.0 to be rushed and and am delighted just to wait until the time is right. I couldn't give two figs if that takes months.

The delay is par for the course in terms of sensible development and I wish people would stop banging on with the overly ebullient, "Hubba hubba", shite.

Just my eggs. It will will be what it will be and arrive when it does. Meanwhile, I fully appreciate what WHMCS currently does.

Look at the other softwares like Modernbill, they havn't updated their software so big like this for a long time :P

They had v4 then they released v5, and since then it has been dead.

That's because SWSoft took over and killed it :)

You fellers sure do talk funny. ;)

Try coming up to Scotland :P

We all eat bricks for breakfast, wear skirts and chuck telegraph poles around...

Now that is cool. To show my colonial ignorance. Is a breakfast brick something special in Scotland? Or ya'll just yanking my chain... :)

It's true! They really do chuck telegraph poles and so on. Then they talk utter crap! I live in Scotland (although not Scottish, and happy about it!).

On another note, WHMCS may have slowed down, but this was expected. They did tell us Version 4 would be a major release, so no wonder it took a while, which may of seemed like...forever. Especially with the Multi Currency feature, that must of had a lot of thought put into it, with endless testing.

Come on guys, give them a break.
