When domains are renewed early they do not process correctly

Recommended Posts

I've noticed if a customer renews a domain early it does not renew at the registrar level and it will send another invoice when it's normally due. So customers are double paying and not being renewed correctly.

Can I disable early domain renewal or make it work correctly? I use ISPAPI v8.5.0 which is the latest and the latest WHMCS.

Hi @Web Host Pro,

To disable the ability for clients to renew domains on-demand, uncheck Enable Renewal Orders at Configuration > System Settings > Domains tab.

If renewal isn't occurring on the invoice being paid, please troubleshoot with these steps: https://help.whmcs.com/m/troubleshooting/l/1601144-troubleshooting-domain-renewal-problems

Hi @Web Host Pro,

With the Enable Renewal Orders option unchecked, Users won't be able to access the domain renewal page, even if they try and visit the renewal URL directly they'll be redirected to the My Domains list.

The theme wouldn't influence domain renewal ordering or automation.

One way to recreate:

Client manually requests renew of a domain (Enable Renewal Orders  is checked  to allow this)

Client hasn't paid yet.

The admin goes to the order via /admin/orders.php

When accepting the order the "send to registrar" option is unticked and greyed (can't be ticked)

Admin clicks "Accept" on the order (because the client needs it now).

Order is accepted but renewal is not sent to registrar.

Renewal is also not sent to the registrar when the client later pays.

when the domain comes up for natural renewal, client is invoiced, again.

Work-around appears to manually go to the domain in admin and click renew after accepting the order.

This appears to be a WHMCS bug.  Anyone know if this has been reported?

Please report this as a bug to both whmcs and ispapi.  @PapaKai @John
