Problems with cPanel v74 and WHMCS 5.3

I know that WHMCS 5.3 by far have been EOL'ed, but we're still having some reasons to stay on this version. When our cPanel servers were updated to v74 last night, module commands stopped working. This is the module log:

Is there anything that can be done about this, or is it just tough luck?

Firstly, we would recommend upgrading to V7, secondly, WHM moved to using API tokens a while ago so that will have an impact at some point, looking at this error however, do you use some form of custom WHM Login page?

I know. I've been trying to tell my boss that we need to upgrade, but unfortunately there's a lot of custom code involved in the current website that doesn't work with v6 or v7. I know that it's crucial to keep WHMCS up to date, but it's his decision, not mine, unfortunately.

Hmm ok, can you still see Remote Access Keys in your WHM Server?

I don't see it, but I can access it on /scripts/setrhash. We've been trying with or without remote access key. The before mentioned error was without the remote access key.

With the key, it just gives login failed on /xml-api/version

Hi @DennisMidjord,

The cPanel API is rejecting the authentication requests. The reason for this is that cPanel v74 removed XML support from their API: https://documentation.cpanel.net/display/CKB/cPanel+Deprecation+Plan

The old cPanel API is used by old versions of WHMCS. As far as I'm aware there isn't a workaround or shim layer available.

You will need to roll back the cPanel upgrade, or update WHMCS to 7.3 or above.

I've finally convinced my boss that an upgrade is crucial. We're working on it, so fortunately a rollback won't be needed!
