Brainchild Labs Pty Ltd
Greetings, i have been put into a situation that needs to be talked about. PHP7 is out and has been for some time. WHMCS uses Ioncube as part of its code protection. There is one major caveat i have come across, Ioncube at this point do NOT have a working version of its loaders for PHP7 as yet and will not have for some time yet. This is a big draw back, PHP7 is much faster and better than previous versions and WordPress as well as other software already support PHP7 codebase. This now means we are held back from upgrading WHMCS to run on PHP7 for some time yet. I have been in discussion with Ioncube and they have given some feedback about WHMCS as "A ticking timb bomb" I would like the WHMCS team to review this comment and let me know what exactly they mean by this ? http://forum.ioncube.com/viewtopic.php?p=10834#10834 Regards
sentq
I think WHMCS may add support for PHP7 after 8 - 18 months
sentq
what they mean by "time bomb" is that WHMCS use old/deprecated functions like "mysql", the good thing is since WHMCS v6 and with each release WHMCS improve their software for good, and very soon they will drop support for mysql lib.

Tapeix
Notice that Apache 4 still didn't update its IonCube loader yet. I'll guess I wait a few weeks/months before everyone is moving over to PHP7.
