Colon In Product Description Causes formatting error

Recommended Posts

 • 2 weeks later...

Thomas,

I am seeing the product treating text:

"bar : Test" as bar Test

This is what I expect.

Can you update this forum with the details of exactly what formatting issues you are having so we can provide better insight?

Thanks much,

Nate C

while WHMCS are deciding if this is a bug (perhaps a legacy from Feature Highlights ?), you could replace the ':' in your description with the code below (remove the spaces) and that will show a colon on the page without causing any format issues.

Hello Thomas,

What you are observing here is the intended behavior of the product. We expect you to be able to list multiple stats and their settings in this package. For example if you had two levels of hosting, one that allowed 25 emails accounts to be made and another 50 - in the product description you would put:

Emails: 25

Disk Space: 1gb

and in the other put:

Emails: 50

Disk Space 10gb

Then the logic to auto bold specific parts of the description make a lot of sense. In this rare case it does not work for what you are trying to do. Since you have a long disclaimer, I would recommend adding a * or some other footnote and then adding your disclaimer into the body of the product selection template.

Alternatively using the entity encoding trick Brian suggested also works.

Have a great day,

Nate C
