Installation URL rename
henrybrown replied to Howard's topic in Installation, Upgrade, and Import Support
Hello! I started using WHMCS a couple of years ago, and I’m considering changing the URL/directory where it’s currently installed on my website. Would this require me to reinstall WHMCS, or is there a recommended way to move/rename the existing installation? From reading some previous posts, it sounds like I could back up/download my database and then import it into the new directory, but I’m not sure if that’s the correct approach. Any advice on the best way to do this without affecting my existing data and configuration would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! - Last week

you can hopefully get to something much more useful, such as: cron.php started DomainSync started another cron.php process started another cron.php process started DomainSync never returned At that point, at least you know where to start looking. I've written up the complete procedure, including the hooks, shell script, logging examples and some additional frp bypass notes here: https://eurossl.eu/knowledgebase/whmcs-cron-job-stuck-debugging/ I'm posting this because I'd still like to contribute useful technical information back to the WHMCS community. However, after fighting over the years with the community's occasionally ("creative" code editor, formatting issues, disappearing posts and similar adventures), I've decided to keep the full article and code somewhere I can actually maintain them. 🙂 Hopefully this will save someone a few hours of debugging. Yes, I’ve gone through the full post now. I appreciate you pointing me back to it, because I initially focused more on the general problem I was experiencing rather than following the debugging process you described step by step. The part about adding more detailed logging around the cron execution and individual automation tasks is exactly what I was looking for. I’m going to work through those steps on my installation and use the logs to identify where the process is actually stopping or taking unusually long, rather than assuming the cron command itself is the problem. Thanks for sharing the detailed guide and for clarifying that the troubleshooting approach is already covered there.

How much should a domain cost?
bear replied to GerardoRomeroGuzman's question in Pre-Sales Questions
There are only a small number of registrars that have .com domains under $10 for new registrations, but they all increase to more then $10 for renewals. Your pricing makes no sense for profit unless your cost is well below that. Is it? -
How can I edit a customer invoice

Hello I would be interested to no who you use to register your domains cause we Sell .com domains for $10 1 year. -
Hello, I tend to agree and disagree with some of the comments here, not everyone requires a Customer Account Number system i guess it depends on what you do as a company, We use WHMCS for a Web Design Software company so having a Account Number for each client is perfect for us it may not be for everyone, However we just wanted to share it as some people may have a use for it. Even through WHMCS Does have the Client ID, But on Bears Note Regarding Support Ticket ( HelpDesk ) Yes i would agree with you there however if you are not using the built in WHMCS Support system and your using your own custom HelpDesk with your own Module then its not the same, as it would not work 100% the same as WHMCS System, We use SupportPal However we do not use the SupportPal WHMCS module as we find it very Limited, We built our own Custom Customer Front end User interface using the API so we can have a customer front end on all our websites and there linked with each brand and customer account number. That being said we run 5 companies out of WHMCS using MultiBrand, so we have our setup done our way that is best suited for us, not everyone is the same SupportPIN is a good Option i agree with you Bear, We did try out the Module gardens SupportPIN However i had some issues with it, that i did not like So what we ended up doing was Brought SMS Center created a SMS Gateway module for that using our own gateway as we are Australian based the module did not support our gateway at the start we had to make our own, Then we created a SMS Verify Module So when a customer rings your office you send a random 1 time SMS to there phone and they read back the code to you on the phone, I guess in a way same as SupportPIN but once again this suites us.

Closing hosting business with existing customers
Chriscrete replied to Dale A's topic in General Discussion
Hi Dale, I came across your post about retiring and looking for someone to take over your remaining hosting customers. I realize some time has passed since you posted it, so you may already have found someone. But if you still have any customers, hosting accounts or domains that need a new home, I would be very interested in taking them over. I'm Christian Crete, founder of Crete Technology Group in Ottawa, Canada. I operate my own server infrastructure and I'm specifically looking for small hosting customer bases where an owner is retiring or winding things down. I'm not looking to flip the customers. I'd like to continue hosting them, support them properly and give them a long-term home. I'd be happy to discuss taking over the remaining accounts and handling the migration so you can finally step away from the hosting side. And even if you've already transferred everything, if you know another longtime hosting or web-services owner who is retiring or winding down, I'd really appreciate an introduction. Thanks Dale, Christian Crete Crete Technology Group Ottawa, Canada ccrete@cretetechgroup.com -
Though I agree it may cause confusion, I get that there's a kind of need, IF they use it. Anyone reaching out that's a current client generally does so via ticket, and that already shows who they are. Asking for a user ID from them seems redundant and something they will likely not know off hand, causing extra steps. Something like a PIN is useful, if you get support calls, but generally a long ID not so much, IMHO. I personally don't have a use for it.
-
I totally agree with @Remitur In the screenshot you shared #27 at the top is the user id, and seems like you generated an account number which is 8 digit. Your customers requited some 8 digit numbers as the user id?
-
I understand, but anywhere in WHMCS you can already recover the numeric ID assigned by WHMCS to a customer... Something like this in almost any hook: $userId = $vars['user']->id; and in Smarty: {$user->id} This ID is the very same one used to identify a certain customer's services, invoices, transactions... I believe that adding another numeric ID, different from the one already assigned by WHMCS, is not only unnecessary but could also lead to confusion and errors.
-
Hello, Well i some people prefer a Customer account number, So we just created it if people wanted that. Regards Lee
-
I guess I'm missing something about this... What's the sense? Every customer already has an unique numeric ID assigned by WHMCS ...

Have you read ALL of my post? It's exactly what I explain how to do ... https://eurossl.eu/knowledgebase/whmcs-cron-job-stuck-debugging/

Hi all, The WhatsApp client notifications request on the feature tracker has 559 votes and is still open, so I started building a notification provider module for it. What I'm aiming at is different from the options I found. Every one of them routes you through a paid gateway - Twilio, or the vendor's own service - with a fee on top of what Meta already charges. I want to remove that layer: - Connects straight to Meta's WhatsApp Cloud API with your own credentials. No middleman, no markup on top of Meta's own per-message cost. - One-time purchase, not a subscription. - Ships with ready-made message templates for the usual WHMCS events, so you are not writing and submitting templates to Meta from scratch. Before I go further I would rather ask than guess: 1. Are you already sending WhatsApp notifications somehow? If yes, what are you using and what annoys you about it? 2. Which events actually matter to you? I am assuming invoice created, payment received, overdue reminder, service due and domain expiry - but I would rather hear it from people running this daily. 3. Would you prefer a one-time purchase or a subscription? I am planning one-time, but tell me if that is wrong. Also: if anyone is willing to test an early build on a real install, I will give you a free lifetime licence. Honest feedback is worth more to me than the sale. Thanks, Semih

Analytics tracking notification won't go away
Eduardo G. replied to Evolve Web Hosting's topic in Troubleshooting Issues
Same problem here in different WHMCS 9.0.8 installations Clicking "Deny Tracking" does set the cookie correctly: trackingOptInDismissed_2=true; path=/admin; SameSite=Lax; Secure; max-age=31536000 (the "_2" is the admin ID). On reload the cookie is present, but the modal is shown again. The check that is supposed to skip the modal is in templates/blend/js/scripts.js (line ~5157; blend-new: ~5340), and in the minified files: if (document.cookie.indexOf(`trackingOptInDismissed_${authAdminId}=true;`) !== -1) { return; } The needle ends with a semicolon. But document.cookie only separates cookies with "; " and adds nothing after the last one. The WHMCS session cookies are HttpOnly, so JavaScript can't see them, and this cookie has path=/admin, so it is listed first among the JS-visible ones. When it is the only cookie JS can see, it is also the last one, so there is no trailing ";" and indexOf() returns -1. Verified in the console: document.cookie -> "trackingOptInDismissed_2=true" document.cookie.indexOf("trackingOptInDismissed_2=true;") // -1 (modal shown) document.cookie.indexOf("trackingOptInDismissed_2=true") // 0 If I add any other non-HttpOnly cookie with path=/ (e.g. document.cookie = "test=1; path=/"), document.cookie becomes "trackingOptInDismissed_2=true; test=1" and the same check returns 0, so the modal is hidden. That confirms the cause. My fix I just dropped the trailing ";" from the indexOf() needle 😄 -

I also have the same question, because I’ve run into situations where a WHMCS cron job appears to be running normally from the outside, but something inside the automation process seems to take much longer than expected or never properly finishes. What makes this particularly difficult to troubleshoot is that simply seeing the cron command execute every few minutes doesn’t necessarily tell you what happened during the previous run. If one process is still active when the next scheduled execution begins, it seems very easy to end up with multiple cron processes running at the same time without realizing that the original problem is actually a task that is waiting indefinitely somewhere. I’ve generally found these kinds of issues difficult to diagnose when all you have is a basic cron log showing that the command was launched, because that doesn’t really tell you which part of the WHMCS automation cycle was reached before things stopped progressing. Being able to distinguish between the PHP process starting, the overall automation cycle starting and finishing, and an individual automation task starting but never returning sounds like a much more useful way of narrowing down the problem. I’m especially interested in the idea of logging the individual task names because otherwise it can be difficult to tell whether the delay is related to WHMCS itself, a particular module, an external service, or some custom code running during automation.
