somecows
hello, i just downloaded and installed whmcs for the first time. i did not really understand the part about ioncube so i just ignored it and only uploaded the whmcs folder and then ran the install script to see what would happen. as far as i can tell, the installation has been successful and i did not get any error messages about ioncube or anything like that. i have created my mysql db, admin account, etc etc, with no errors. what does that mean? do i still need to do the ioncube installation? i want to make sure my installation is secure and that encryption is working properly, obviously! thanks for any advice and sorry for the newbie question.

Ioncube and zend relate to software on the server, if your server already has ioncube already installed then you do not need to install this.
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted July 7, 2009 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted July 7, 2009 You wouldn't be able to see the WHMCS login page if Ioncube wasn't installed.
somecows
Thanks, it turns out Ioncube was, indeed, installed. I just didn't know it.
mns
What if ioncube is not installed and the admin doesn't even want to install? Can WHMCS still be used?
bear
You can add the loaders within the path of the script instead of installing server wide.
arcdigital
What if ioncube is not installed and the admin doesn't even want to install? Can WHMCS still be used? Put the ioncube folder inside of your whmcs folder.

Odin
Would it matter if this is done before or after the WHMCS install? How would I be able to check if ioncube is functioning correctly? Thanks
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted January 26, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted January 26, 2010 It doesn't matter whether it's done before or after, but I don't think you can install WHMCS until Ioncube is installed and configured correctly.
Odin
Hmm so if I have a functional WHMCS then my hosts would have configured iconcube, correct? LOL so I'm uploading for nothing? Thanks
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted January 27, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted January 27, 2010 Yup, if WHMCS is working then Ioncube is already installed on your server.
virtualgina
when I download the IONCUBE zip file there is only a sinlge .exe file that is not in another folder - the install instructions say to upload the "IONCUBE FOLDER. What am I missing or do I created a folder called IONCUBE and upload the .exe file there? thanks in advance
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted April 21, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted April 21, 2010 I've just downloaded the Ioncube Loaders file from our client area and there's definitely more than just one exe file in there.
