Date format

It's been brought up that the numeric date format in use on the forum is a bit confusing. Dates like 04-05-2009...is it May? Is it April (current settings make it April)?

 

So here's your chance to ask for change...or not.

Vote in the poll, and if there's enough interest in one form or the other, we'd be willing to consider changing it.

I voted and prefer dd-mm-YYYY but even Month-dd-YYYY would be better then the current situation

I think it's better to have the actual month name in it, keeps the Americans and us Brits happy that way as neither of us get confused

I'd agree that having the month spelled out would be the least confusing for me personally.

I'm afraid not, members can only set time zone, so whatever is decided, it's majority rules.

Voted. Being American, I have no problem with the current format, but if it's to be changed, having the month name would be nicely unambiguous. Either that, or yyyy-mm-dd (2009-04-23), but that wasn't an option.

I am used to dd-mm-yyyy but I think dd-month-yyyy is the easiest format for all users.

Although the British method is the most logical (smallest to greatest), I don't think it should be exclusively used. Spelling out the month is definitely the best way to go.

Either that, or yyyy-mm-dd (2009-04-23), but that wasn't an option.

Also voted for Month-dd-YYY, which in my opinion looks the neatest. The current style is confusing for many.

I voted the for the last one which is the closest to what I like it. However, with that format you really don't need any seperators except for a space or a leading 0. It should be:

 

1 April 09 or 1 April 2009 instead of 01-April, 2009

There really wasn't much of a call for change here, as it was nearly evenly split between the available choices and only 54 people voted. For now, let's leave things as they were.
