HSc
I'm attempting a .CA registration using the Enom module. The module works fine for .com and other domains I have registered. With .CA I get the following error: Invalid registrant information I have experience registering .CA domains so I tried changing the data in the fields around but still no luck. I can't spot what information is wrong so I wonder if it's the module. Anyone have any ideas? Marc

HSc
la_rollin, Are you able to reproduce the same error?
dgbaker
We can, and it is a major pain. But!! 100% sure it is a whmcs issue, as manually doing it at enom produces the same result.
Lawrence
It's not a problem with WHMCS or eNom, it is due to requirements by CIRA that the registrant details are valid. Usually this error seems to indicate an error with the registrant type, like specifying Individual when the name is a business. As a Canadian host ourselves, I can say WHMCS or eNom cannot fix broken CIRA logic.

Usually this error seems to indicate an error with the registrant type, like specifying Individual when the name is a business. As a Canadian host ourselves, I can say WHMCS or eNom cannot fix broken CIRA logic. I've registered hundreds of .CA domains so I'm well versed with all the CIRA particulars. For the life of me I can't find any problems with my attempts. Can you reproduce the problem or haven't you tried?
e_labranche
I seem to have found the problems with the registyration of .CA domaine names with WHMCS & enom. It seems it's related to utf-8 characters. For example, when a registrant enter his/hers info and puts in characters like é è etc, there are error messages: Invalid registrant information For example, I live in Québec, Canada. If I enter Québec in the information aprt of my client, I get error messages, If I enter Quebec (without the é) I successfully register the domain. This is both a WHMCS and an enom problem. It should accept UTF8 characters like : é è à
Slice
Try to register a .CA directly through the eNom panel with accented characters and you get the same problem. This is a huge issue that annoys my customers to no end. Add the fact that you cannot select French as the preferred language for CIRA communications and I consider myself lucky to not have the language police threaten me yet. If there are ANY accents in the registrant information, whether it's the name, company or address and eNom throws a fit. I wish I would have known this first before I invested too much time and domain transfers into the eNom account. The best part is, I composed a long letter to eNom support a few months ago to complain and I got the canned response from their support that I should go through WHMCS support. I haven't calmed myself down enough to open a ticket here yet. My solution for now? Each time I see a failed .CA registration in the WHMCS To-do, I have to go and clean up the mess and re-activate the order, with a good dose of screaming and cursing.
mrl14
This just started breaking for us too. Everything results in an invalid registrant information and as far as I can see everything is filled out properly. I'm pretty sure it's an issue with WHMCS plugin and not enom as I am able to register the domains manually on enom. Any thoughts?
mrl14
Ok I was able to get this to work after removing the +1. from the phone number field. WHMCS needs to provide some sort of fix for this on the client side because you can't expect clients to not do this.
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted June 2, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted June 2, 2010 Personally I'd recommend modifying viewcart.tpl and adding a message reminding your clients not to enter their country code or international dialling code into the telephone number field.
HSc
Personally I'd recommend modifying viewcart.tpl and adding a message reminding your clients not to enter their country code or international dialling code into the telephone number field. I received the following Email from eNom this week: There are some big changes coming to .CA that I thought you should know about. It will become much easier and faster to register and manage .CA registrations, greatly expanding your potential audience for .CA while decreasing support overhead. While .CA domains may have been previously problematic, we are now introducing new integration into our API which will make managing .CA domains much more like other popular TLDs such as .US and .ORG. You will need to update just two simple commands by October 12, 2010. Please find the attached document which details the timeline for integrating the changes into your solution. To make this transition as easy as possible, we will also be informing your sub-resellers of these upcoming changes. If you have any questions, or would like some tips on how to maximize your .CA registrations in this new, easier system please let me know. FWIW, this is a change at CIRA's end (the .CA registry) and we also received notice from Tucows about changes so many registrar API's will probably be affected. From what Tucows says, CIRA is passing all control to the registry side of managing and registrering domains to bring them more in line with industry standards. Any chance of implementing the new changes ASAP? And, of course, fix any .CA registering problems the persist if not addressed in these new changes. Thanks.
