I am completely confused as to why a billing software is unable to take part payment for invoices.

there were users asking for this 10+ years ago... even for WHMCS, that's dawdling. shrug2.gif

Has anybody got a good solution to this for card payments captured using Stripe module?

a good solution ? not really... the official line is that you generate an add funds invoice for the desired amount, then use that credit to make a partial payment against the original invoice.

there are rumoured changes for Stripe in v7.8 but I can't see partial payments with that gateway being one of them...

Would have to agree with @brian! that partial payments are not likely to be in the update but yet if they are changing the module enough as it is who knows.

I think allowing partial payments would require fundamental changes outside the bounds of any one gateway - it's quite weird that a major billing software can't support such a trivial feature natively, yet we all seem to accept that and carry on regardless.... when you take a step back and think about, it's absurd... hey ho.

Hi there,

We received a feature request for something like this 2 years ago, but it only received one vote in support, so has now been archived: https://requests.whmcs.com/topic/allowing-partial-payments-automatically-for-services-could-be-useful-if-included-in-whmcs

Please feel free to submit a new request for this feature at https://requests.whmcs.com and if it receives more support this time, it's potentially something we can consider for the future.
