Cannot open support tickets from admin area

On V7.7.1 we cannot open support tickets within admin area, in client profile.  After hitting the "open ticket" button, it goes to /admin/supporttickets.php?action=openticket  which leads to our 404 page.  Quite frustrating.

this is likely to be caused by your Friendly URLs settings - which now apply to both client and admin areas - the help page below will give you a few options to check what's causing this with your installation.

Oh, thank you my good old friend @brian! ! I'll take a look over the hints and hopefully fix it.
