cPanel Create Module: Why no special characters in password???

I searched and could find no recent reference to this issue, although there appear to be a number of older threads on the same subject: e.g. http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?29185-cPanel-account-creation-issue

THE ISSUE:

cPanel create module auto populates the userid and password fields for a new cpanel account creation. However, the password strength is quite poor, usually just numbers and letters, something like: 9Hf3cYs8t4

I would like to know how is it possible to get the auto password creator to include special characters in the password fields to increase password strength e.g. 8%g#f(j2h*

At the moment, one has to modify the auto-generated password to add special characters.

So anyone know if it's possible to do this? and to the WHMCS team - surely this should be high on the to do list?

Hello ;

Does it's really an important issue? I means, your customers, once they are getting their credentials can update their password isn't it? Right now, I do not know about any feature which can allows you to enforce the password strength out of the box. The only way I see is to hook into the order process and generate your own password.

  • WHMCS Support Manager

Hi,

WHMCS will generate passwords containing a random assortment of letters and numbers. This ensures the generated passwords are compatible with all the different systems with which WHMCS integrates.

There isn't currently an option to change the password attributes, however we welcome feature requests at http://requests.whmcs.com
