max777
hi i have received an email that the cira is changing the system to eppp on october 12. Does that mean we won't be able to register .ca names from whmcs after this date ?? any upgrade on whmcs should be done ?? Thanks
jaatendi
I am wondering about this too. Perhaps this will allow a new CIRA registration module to be developed, as registrants will no longer have to confirm with CIRA, and they are introducing a standard EPP system. I have my fingers crossed!
9DollarDomains
Hi. I would also like to know the changes that will be needed in my WHMCS installations. Enom is asking me if I'm ready to switch, but I don't know if we are or aren't ready with our current version - I would guess not? Any word from the powers that be would be appreciated.

Nexxterra
The builtin function of WHMCS should work seemlessly with this. "CIRA, the company that manages the .CA TLD is transitioning from the current manual management system to EPP, the same standard used by the most popular TLDs including .COM, .ORG and .US"

danami
Can someone from WHMCS please comment ? From the mailout they sent it looks like the API has changed a lot and would require an update from WHMCS to work with the new API?
Varial
Yeah I'm assuming the eNom module for WHMCS will need to be updated. Would be great to hear from the WHMCS developers that the updated module will be available for Oct 12th!
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted September 28, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted September 28, 2010 The eNom module will be updated in time for the change, yes.
WebHostingCanada
Is there an update available for this? 4 more days till the new system is launched. I would need both the eNom and OpenSRS modules to be updated, please. Thanks!
HSc
The eNom module will be updated in time for the change, yes. How about OpenSRS?
9DollarDomains
Hi. For those that are watching for an update to this thread (like I was) I think the answers are here. http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?t=32852&highlight=cira
gei
It appears that WHMCS is no longer correctly identifying when .ca domains are available. It now shows that every .ca domain is unavailable, even if it is not registered. I guess the whois changed. EDIT: Found http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?t=32927
9DollarDomains
Edit the following line in includes/whoisservers.php for it: .ca|whois.cira.ca|Domain status: available For us, that was the words 'Domain status: available' instead of the word 'AVAIL', and there needed to be 9 spaces between the colon of 'status:' and the word 'available'
max777
if we change that all domain would be available and this is not good Edit the following line in includes/whoisservers.php for it: .ca|whois.cira.ca|Domain status: available For us, that was the words 'Domain status: available' instead of the word 'AVAIL', and there needed to be 9 spaces between the colon of 'status:' and the word 'available'
9DollarDomains
Hi. I'm not sure I understand what you're saying exactly.... What the includes/whoisservers.php does is basically have a list of what text it's looking for to know that a domain is available or not. So, it used to be that WHMCS would know that a domain was available for registration by looking for the string AVAIL in the whois response. In the new CIRA system, the whois responses coming back don't contain 'AVAIL' any longer, insead a domain that is available for registration will contain a line that says 'Domain Status: available' so that's what your whoisservers.php needs to be looking for.
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted October 18, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted October 18, 2010 The update includes this change to the whoisservers.php file now: http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?p=165135
tulaweb
So is there an update for the OpenSRS module as well? The provided patch has eNom only. Do others require updating?
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted October 19, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted October 19, 2010 If OpenSRS have made announcements about changes to their API it would be most helpful if you could forward the details of the relevant changes to us via support ticket. If they haven't made an announcement I suspect no changes are necessary.
jkeichin
I see that Matt posted the updated enom CIRA module, but I don't see an updated module for OpenSRS. Does anyone have this or know where I can find it?? Again - need the update OpenSRS module to be compliant with the new CIRA registration system. Thanks! -James
9DollarDomains
YIKES - CIRA now sends new emails to the clients on registration, with information on how to contact eNom.com for information. I know this information was never really secret - people always could (and should be able to) find the info. However, our clients weren't confused by it on day 1 either. I don't like that new CIRA email sent to them - does anyone know of a way to prevent it from coming to them?
max777
i see that directi and reseller club are also selling .ca domains . Does the api for enom also work for this or also we need a new modification is whmcs
BobC
I contacted NetEarthOne about this. They also sell .CA domains. I quoted to them the message located at http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?p=165135 and their reply was: My understanding is that WHMCS as yet does not support .CA on the LB platform as it has to add a special contact, we already support the latest requirements on the NEO panel. This would be a question for WHMCS. So, when will the update be available for NetEarthOne registrar? Bob
