Security Questions in Symbols!

Hello,

 

All my security questions have changed to symbols... for example one is now zCHv?J2Oe2?UH??k??_?W;y?????#v?#???o??x8

 

BTW! It appears to happen if I go to a clients page, cPanel password, and security question answer is in symbols!

This means that the cc_encryption_hash in your configuration.php file has been changed. You should restore it from your backups.

Is it only the security questions that use that cc_encryption_hash ? Will restoring an older config with a different hash cause any other issues to potentially break? (assuming all the rest of the info in the config is the same of course)

Any stored credit card numbers will fail to decrypt properly if you change that.

It's the passwords, security questions and credit card numbers. Any details/passwords entered since the hash was changed would need to be re-entered.

I am now having this problem and i dont have a back up of the origanal config file.

 

Does this mean all clients passwords have to be reset?

 

How can i fix the security question problem?

Just tried deleting the question but got a message saying

 

An Error Occured

You cannot delete a Security Question while it is in use

You'd have to delete the security questions and re enter them

You'll need to run the following query on your database to remove the security questions:

UPDATE tblclients SET securityqid=0;
TRUNCATE tbladminsecurityquestions;
