  1. What help exactly do you need? The solution you need isnt difficult to do. Create new domain: Copy files over: Copy database tables to new database: Update Configuration file (database settings): Reissue whmcs key: Log into admin area: to update key: Validate all of the system is working: Finally delete the old account. It sounds more complex than it is but you dont need to pay somebody to do this. I would leave the upgrade until you have completed all the steps above, that will eliminate one possible problem area besides such a large upgrade is probably better done incrementally to make sure all the changes occur in your database that are needed.
  2. There are many possible causes but the most likely causes are a php configuration error or missing mail modules. I would switch to SMTP mail anyway, PHP mail gets marked as spam much more frequently than smtp mail. Also make sure your mail server is marked as an authoritive mail server for the domain, You can do this by editing your dns zone and adding spf records for your mail server IP's (once you get your mail working). While it doesn't guarantee that your mail wont get marked as spam, it does help to authenticate mail that came from your system and not some other spoof system.
  3. If you want to bill for the full amount and allow the client to make instalments, then your client will need to use the add funds option. The only other way i i can see it to create say 5 invoices, you would just need to adjust the invoice due dates manually to match the instalment arrangement then the invoices would remain open and payable. Just make sure you do not send the invoice creation email until you have completed any changes.
  4. the css you are looking for is in orderforms/comparison/style.css You can use chrome to "inspect" the page, other browsers have similar function. They allow you to edit the page css without making changed to the files. once you have an idea of how you want it, open up the css file and make the changes permanent. The inspector tools in the browsers tell you line number to look for so you can easily locate where you need to modify.
  5. As i said the clarification request wasn't my issue I understand that, the manner in which you put that request across was my concern. You would not speak to me in that manner in person, please do not do it just because you are on a forum. It's nice to be nice End of issue, i'm not getting into a debate on forum etiquette that's a whole other kettle of muck.
  6. The registrars shouldn't care whether you are adding it in the package or not, as brian stated the domain cant be rented out monthly. You can if you want to register the domain names under your own company, IE, your company owns the domain names. If you then choose to provide these free to use as a part of a package to your own clients that is entirely up to you as they are not the registrant you are. In such a case you have to make it very clear to your client, on your website and in your terms and conditions that you are granting them rights to use the domain name that you own as a part of their hosting package but at no time will they own it. This in itself brings about a problem, you would need a "registrar" module for this usage that you could apply a pool of domain names and then display the list on your website for your clients to choose from. You would need an extra option in the domain section of the order form to select from the pool. After that its just a matter of following the normal steps as to provisioning the order. You would have to bear in mind that you are responsible for the domains and the content on them. So the buck stops with you. This is something you would have to work into your terms to enable you to pass that responsibility to the client using the domain name. Also consider, a domain that is fouled by a client will probably be better to be dropped altogether so i wouldnt look to register them in a long term basis, probably just do it one year at a time to limit costs.
  7. I think this should be taken private bear. I will send you an inbox.
  8. 5.3 is currently in beta phase, I wouldn't be expecting an immediate result on this. There is a release coming up for 5.3 but when exactly comes down to the beta phase.
  9. To be fair on whmcs, the order flow is logical from a point that the interface is simply designed to work. The whole point in having a simple out of the box version is so you can get going right away but just take a look at the forms types, all those versions and none of them match each other in design. You should be having the forms designed to your own requirements and not relying on the default templates on an indefinite basis. adddomain.tpl {if $domain eq "register"} If its there then you should be able to use it. (i cant remember if i have added it and im using a new trackball and its took me long enough to pull out that snippet so im not going searching in my hooks today).
  10. I think the changing of name servers in whmcs is registrar module dependant. IE if their API supports it then there is a good chance so does the whmcs module for said registrar. I don't believe this is a core function of whmcs in itself but an extended capability from the modules. Now, Lets say your client has just ordered a domain name from me, they bought no hosting because they were hosting with you, at the time of purchase, the domain will be set to use your name servers. Today they decide they want to buy hosting for the domain name from me. There are one of two things going to happen, either, my system will send out a nameserver update, or im going to have to do it manually. This all depends on the module being used for the domain. RE: paying for modules, i know digging into the coding is not everybody's bag but i would have to say, whom ever you choose its usually a good idea to meet them in person before handing over any payments. If that is not feasible, i would look at a payment method that protects you as the purchaser of intangible products for making the payment in future.
  11. Most companies run their live chat software on business hours, so you could well have been unlucky enough to be waiting when they went offline. What does strike me as a little odd is they could very well have managed all of the tickets, lets say they close off at 5, the staff should be employed to work until the chat requests are complete, on any chats that opened before 5pm, they have a time so it cant be very difficult to do and all they need to do is notify the clients that chats opened after 5pm may not be answered. I dont have any experience of name cheap, however, i can say, there is nothing to stop you using multiple registrars, just choose where they will be registered based on a cost/benefits assesment.
  12. the size is important, well actually its not the size but the aspect ratio. You can make a larger logo if you want to very easily. Just grab the image brian mentioned and increase the size of it with the chain closed to keep the aspect ratio (photoshop, gimp etc). clear out the image and do your logo stuff. That way if whmcs resizes it you have already make it larger than it needs to be and the aspect ratio being correct should allow it to down size gracefully. i cant say as the clarity will be as good, that depends on how much resizing and the clarity of the original.
  13. This has been a long standing issue with smarty templates. I really cant see why they need literal tags for script blocks, they already have tags that could easily be used to identify the code correctly. <script></script> Id just makes no sense to me at all why they insist on another tag being used. We dont have to use it for any other html tag so why these i will never understand. One thing that really sits foul with me is this sort of thing. {literal} <script> jQuery(function(){ jQuery('#dosomething').attr('{/literal}{$oh_damnit_i_need_this}{literal}'); }); </script> {/literal} There is just no need for such dismal hackery, smarty needs to get smart!
  14. The included modules no, but some of them come from the gateway who have the opensource versions available. gocardless is one of them that does. i forget now of the others but an update from gocardless recently fixed a problem after upgrade because the provided module wasnt compatible with the latest whmcs. these things happen i suppose. thats how i know there are some that are available open source.
  15. my appologies, i didn't realise i was under such scrutiny by you bear. I should have written "could". I'm looking at this on a business sense. If you are the receiving registrar and somebody wants to transfer in hundreds of domains then it makes sense that you would bend over backwards to make this happen. Just a thought.
  16. here is a useful link for you http://www.intodns.com Check your domain and each of your nameservers regularly, Fix any issues it comes back with and you will have healthy dns
  17. on the domain pricing slabs: Domain registration: 0.00 to disable that cycle Transfer and renew: -1 to disable that cycle. What i would do personally is look at the action hooks. you can still price the transfers so long as you manually (via a hook) send a renewal call to the registrar. Failing that, do not charge for a transfer at all and disable all but the 1 year term, set that to zero price. Dont forget to let the client know a uk domain does not renew when transfered and make sure that you yourself are uptodate on how nominet runs, there were recent changes to bring them in line with other TLD so i dont doubt in the near future that transfers will include a renewal also.
  18. affiliates dont sell you do, they refer clients to you, this is all tracked in their account, you can see how many people they have referred and how many converted. Also if your using google analytics (and you should be) you can set the * to be tracked with the affiliate id setup. that can help you to figure out which affiliates are doing better then you can look into what they are doing.
  19. i have the webservers write to the dns servers, never writing back, the dns servers can write amongst each other. Note also that the dns templates for cpanel (unless there has been a recent change) are by default set to hold the records for a long time. This is great for your own DNS but if a client moves from say shared over to a server or vice versa, likely their ip will change and their website would be unavailable until the dns cache expires their record. You should update the DNS templates, there are posts about it on the cPanel forum that will help you decide the best settings.
  20. Actually webbcite i think you might very well have a point, although i should imagine if you only have one gateway active in your case it will automatically charge the card. I believe although i cant be sure on this, default is a setting that basically does nothing when the clients data is saved. However if the database is updating with "default" instead of just staying as it was then you might very well have a problem because so far as i can see, there is nowhere in whmcs to set the default gateway. This might be that default is the first gateway in the list. which again, would simply mean for you its not an issue, but for anybody with multiple gateways it could become a problem and the gateway ordering actually becomes more important than simply the order it shows on the website. This is something John might be able to confirm?
  21. you are right they could, but that would have been preferable to opening tbldomainpricing and finding no pricing lol. maybe they are phasing out the table? or just bringing it in? i can't say noticed in the previous version as i wasn't working on that area. now i am so its come to my finicky attention Anyway il look over the version logs for the last couple of versions and see that i can come up with, it should be there if its changed.
  22. That addresses one issue John, But it doesnt address the primary issue which is our system accounting reflecting payment value of double what is actually received. The three original invoices should be marked as something else rather than marked as paid. Have them marked as merged and provide id of the new invoice and take them out of the system accounting flow so only the new invoice is taken into the system accounting. That way there will be full traceability of all invoices and accounting will be correct also. I have never had this come up as i dont provide seperate invoices so i dont know how it works, but im assuming the new invoice has lines reflecting each of the previous invoices? or are they product lines from each of the invoices? i think the first way would be better.
  23. i have never had a problem with the editor either ive been using whmcs since V3, using various browsers and both windows/linux. Please let us know which browser and operating system you are using. Have you found any other sites that this occurs on that use the same editor?
  24. it would likely help if you gave us an idea of what sort of features you are looking for, your question is a little vague im afraid. PS, the affiliate area of whmcs is as good as you make it, it has the option to link to your home page or link into a product, what more could you want?
  25. Depending on the domain yes you will need an EPP code, some registrars wont permit transfer around renewal time. the problem you have is that you need your clients compliance to move them, this means they need to know about the move and why you are doing it, to get their compliance you might need to offer a discount. I would offer a percentage of the savings being made so you still improve your profits but also save the client a little more money. Obviously new domains will not incur this discount. That said. If you have a very large amount to move, You can get the registrar to allow you to move the domains and maintain the current renewal days. they might want a small fee for the manual work of this but i doubt it if they are allowing you a move. Just explain your situation that they are all client domain names and they are not due a renewal so this will leave you out of pocket. If you can provide details of the domains, when they were registered with you, when they are due renewal to the new registrar you will be in a better place to negotiate the move in that way because they can see the history of the domain names, they might say, Okay well all domains over 3 years old can be done in this way, but the rest have to be transfered with a renewal cost. Mainly because older domains are more likely to renew.
