tbenoit
We're thinking of switching to PayPal Website Payments Pro and are looking for opinions on the service by current and past users.
msmom
I've been using it since April and haven't had issue. There are some credit cards that don't seem to process automatically, I have to hit the invoice then tell it to hit the credit card; but I can't say what end it's on -- Paypal's, WHMCS -- because it doesn't happen all the time.
openmind
Are you based in the US or the UK or neither?
tbenoit
We're US based but have clients all over.
openmind
Ah OK, it should be OK for you. UK users you see cannot process Maestro payments yet as PP haven't got round to 3D secure implementations...
freshosts
Hi I have had an email today from paypal with ref to 3-D Secure saying that by 1 January 2010, if you take Maestro cards it needs to have the 3-D Secure will whmcs have this? vivaciti
An answer on this would be helpful as we received the same email.
Onionman
Another voice to the choir, is 3D Secure likely to be implemented?
vivaciti
Looks like no one wants to deal with this impending issue
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted December 8, 2009 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted December 8, 2009 WHMCS has long since supported 3D Secure for any gateways that require it so updates for our PayPal modules will be available before the deadline.
vivaciti
That would be handy as we have moved over to PP Pro, but unable to dump our existing card processor as we need to be able to accept maestro so now we are paying 2 providers.
CarlB
Sorry if this has been covered, but i have scraped the internet and not come up with an answer that makes sense to me! Is Paypal Website Payments Pro stopping processing of Maestro cards in the UK from 31st of January, or are they simply saying you need to have this 3-d secure thingy in your application to continue using them? If they are continuing, it appears that WHMCS will have an updated module in time for that deadline, so no disruption to Maestro card payments will occur at all? Is that all correct? openmind
It means that after the deadline PayPal will not authorise payments that need to go through the 3D secure if the 3D authentication has not been attempted.

bargainhost
Got this message from PayPal: please be aware that as of 21 January 2010, you will not be able to process Maestro payments through UK Website Payments Pro – Direct Credit Card Payments without 3-D Secure technology. This is due to MasterCard Compliance rules. It is important that before this date you remove the Maestro option as a card type on your Card deposit page. This will ensure you keep declines to a minimum, maintain conversion and provide a good experience for your customers. Want to continue to process Maestro transactions? If you want to continue processing Maestro transactions after 21 January 2010, you must implement 3-D Secure. PayPal does not charge for the use of 3-D Secure and nor does Cardinal Commerce, our chosen 3-D Secure technology provider.
Daniel
I didn't even know Maestro could be processed. It certainly isn't listed on my 'Accepted Card Type' page in the paypal manager. Anyway, there's a post in the announcements forum regarding WHMCS and 3D secure.
vivaciti
A post the in the on-going thread would have made some sense. Still never mind, for those that have not ready it yet: http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?t=26346
