Problems may not be detected immediately and may only occur under specific circumstances.
I would recommend that you ask the WHMCS support or wait until someone from the WHMCS team answers here, especially at such important services where a hidden problem could have serious consequences.

Also don't forget about the strict mode, which is enabled by default since MariaDB 10.2.4: Disabling MySQL Strict Mode

The docs say it should be compatible.

"Database

WHMCS is designed to work with the MySQL database. Binary compatible alternatives (such as MariaDB) should be suitable, however their default configurations and optimizations are likely to be different and you should consult with your system administrator or database administrator."

I have used MariaDB 10.1 for 18 months without any problems.

I have asked WHMCS, which answers the following:

Yes, i run 10.3 with WHMCS.. no issues.

Hi Slim

I'm wondering if you can help me please.  I've set up a new server and decided to try the mariadb.  I've used mysql all the years.

I'm stuck on the mysql_mode= which needs to be added to etc/my.cnf  - when I do add it and restart, I get error messages stating that all the tables for my web site have crashed and need to be repaired.  I'm having problems with WHMCS and i suspect it could be of the mysql mode.

Please could you help me by telling me how to do that.  I'd be most grateful please.

Thanking you in advance.
