Remove configurable items pricing in invoice PDF?

In invoicepdf.tpl the $invoiceitems loop shows each item and within the description it also shows the configurable items together with the pricing for each configurable item. I believe "$item['description']" does this.

 

I want to not show the configurable item pricing.

 

Any ideas on how to do this?

The item description is based on the description column of the tblinvoiceitems table which includes the configurable items by default.
