Invoices missing number '1' (appearing as a 'space' / missing the 1 digit)

I have a very strange issue on some (not all) WHMCS invoices -- where the number '1' is missing and is replaced by a 'space'. This isn't just on the 'output' of the invoice (i.e. on the PDF), but on the invoice text in the client's profile, on the invoices under "Invoices". This happens randomly, not to all clients, not to all invoices so it's hard to diagnose.

Is this anything you guys have seen previously?

I'm on WHMCS 6.0.2 and can't upgrade to a newer version because of custom module incompatibilities

when this occurs, are there any products in common on these invoices - e.g is it a specific product(s) where this occurs or does it appear randomly?

my thought is if this is occurring with certain products only, perhaps it's being caused by a custom module?

Appreciate the reply :)

I've always noticed it with the same product actually, but that happens to be the product we sell the majority of the time anyway, and it doesn't occur every single time the product is ordered (or every invoice, even to the same client). So tough to figure out!

Is the database character set utf-8? (Check "System Charset" under Setup > General Settings > General > Localisation)

Yes, it's set to utf-8

as long as the issue appear in "browser" you need to check in another one.

Is this Google Chrome?

It was in Firefox. After receiving your message, just tried in Chrome and can confirm that the same issue occurs. The issue also appears in the emails that are sent out to clients (in the body of the 'Service Suspension' email, for example). That's why I think it's not related to the browser. Trying to find a link between the clients that have the issue, but haven't been able to so far. 2 subsequent invoices from the same client (for the same service): 1 has the issue, the other doesn't...

Can't pinpoint what in the world could cause this intermittent issue

  • WHMCS Support Manager

Hi,

This is peculiar behaviour indeed and not how I would expect a stock WHMCS installation to behave. Could you please ensure there are no customisations present on your installation as these can often change the way WHMCS operates.

These are typically located in the /includes/hooks and /modules directories.

Once the issue is resolved you can add them back one-by-one until the problem begins again - at which point you have identified the troublesome customisation and can contact the vendor directly for assistance resolving the problem in their code.
