Client can not change the address with the same email

Hello

My client can not change his address from the client area. When he tried to edit the address, it says that the email address is already in use.

How can my client change his address?

Is there any filed I need to check to allow my client to change his address?

Thanks.

they would be prevented from changing their email address if the "Email Address" checkbox was ticked in...

setup -> general settings -> other -> locked client profile fields

but if he can even attempt to change the address, then I assume the box is not ticked.

i'm unsure if you're saying the client tried to change his email address with the same email - does he have more than one account with you? email addresses need to be unique, so each account must have a different email address.

No, he was not trying to change his email address, but to change his mailing address. However, when he tried to save with new mailing address, it just does not allow him to do so. Error: email address is already in use.

Thanks.

which WHMCS version are you using - v5.3 or v6 ?

sounds similar to the thread below...

http://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?66351-Client-profile-details-cannot-be-changed-get-quot-Duplicate-Email-quot-error

anything in the activity log ? utilities -> logs -> activity log

also, if you login as the client, and try to modify their address, can you reproduce the error ?

I am using v5.3.

I have visited the link you gave me, but it does not provide me with what to do in order to correct it. DB selection, but what?

No activity recorded.

Yes, if I login as the client, and try to modify the address, the same error appears.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

I think what it's suggesting is that email address address might not be unique and might exist as a contact email address elsewhere - which searching the database would confirm.

it might be worth opening a ticket with support for them to have a closer look at your issue.

Thank you for your reply.

As I was looking into this problem, I found the duplicates of the same users. The reason it took place was because I used to import from the current server. This produced duplicated client files with last name as owner and first name as the user id of the server with email address added from the server's contact email. This caused the duplicates of email into client files.

I deleted all of the duplicates and now it is functioning correctly.

Thank you for your help on this.
