Stingraynut
A brand new set up and I've spent hours trying to find out what the url is to the client area I get 'page not found' at http://www.mydomain/whmcs They say there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers, but I think this question must be close to qualifying as stupid!! so apologies in advance. I have set up many Wordpress sites, static html sites, Virtuemart, Zen Cart and work with WooCommerce and Joomla - this one's got me beat! Stingraynut
I have found the client area login - is this correct? http://mydomain.com.au/whmcs/clientarea.php If I leave off the .php then I get page not found and when I logout this is the url shown http://mydomain.com.au/whmcs/logout.php and I get page not found Why would that happen> and is my client area login URL the normal one? I couldn't find it in any documentation or tutorials.
sentq
what happen if you write the address like this: http://yourdomain.com/whmcs/index.php from screenshot above i see that you use WordPress so WP will act with /whmcs as a slug, try to type URL like above
Stingraynut
That URl gives me page not found. I have posted that I've found the url and would like to know if it's normal - unfortunately instead of 'reply' I clicked 'reply to thread' and being a newbie here the moderator has to check the post before it will appear. here's the info again - The URL that gives me the client area is www.mydomain.com.au/whmcs/clientarea.php (It doesn't work without the php) What does the normal link to the client area login look like? Please could you give me an example? Also on logging out of the client area I get a page not found the url shown is www.mydomain.com.au/whmcs/loggedout.php seems strange and I'm wondering if I am set up right. I use wordpress all the time, how does it integrate with WHMCS, that will be very handy
bear
what happen if you write the address like this: http://yourdomain.com/whmcs/index.php That URl gives me page not found. Check that folder on the server and see if it contains that file from the download. It should. The URL that gives me the client area is http://www.mydomain.com.au/whmcs/clientarea.php (It doesn't work without the php) This isn't like Wordpress where it has an .htaccess file to make "friendly" URLs allowing you to leave bits off. It's literal addressing, and leaving off the page name tells the web server it may be a folder you're looking for and it can't find that. If you have an "index file" in a folder, the server will generally serve that; in this case that would be the "index.php" file.
Stingraynut
Thanks for your help - index.php is in the whmcs folder If I try www.mydomain.com.au/whmcs/index.php I am returned to www.mydomain.com.au/whmcs and page not found. I have checked that with a cleared cache, twice. I'm working in the dark here because I don't know what is normal. Are you saying that normally www.mydomain.com.au/whmcs/index.php will go to a login page for - 1.Admin 2Clients 3 Admin & Clients or what is the usual url? and the result 1,2,or 3? I use roboform to remember logins and I have just looked and the url to login is http://mydomain.com.au/whmcs/administration/login.php I remember now during setup I choose to have a folder called administration and it is in the whmcs folder does this sound correct? I logged in as admin, could see the 1 test client I've created, examined the details of that client, but when i clicked resend password I was sent to page not found. WHMCS likes that page ! The emails aren't working yet, so that might be why. I need to get this sorted out before going further Rob
Stingraynut
I'm still having trouble. I login to WHMCS at this URL /http://mydomain.com.au/whmcs/administration/configproducts.php?action=edit&id=1 I tried to add a product but every time I click save I am redirected to /http://mydomain.com.au/whmcs/administration/configproducts.php?action=edit&id=1 which is 'Page Not Found' It appears that what I add is saved but somehow everything I do end up at 'Page Not Found' - I think I need to configure something? Stingraynut
This is a new installation of whmcs today. I'm new to whmcs I began setup and while adding products, every time I click save I am directed away from whmcs and get a 'page not found' at the domain whmcs is installed in. This is the url I end up athttp://mydomain.com.au/whmcs/admin/configproducts.php?action=save&id=1 I had no trouble saving in General Settings, Payments and Payment gateway the problem is only with Products so far - and the settings are being saved but it's a nuisance not being automatically redirected back to the page I was on. I had this problem yesterday and today I deleted the WHMCS installation and installed it fresh, but still have the problem. What should I check? Stingraynut
Problem solved I reinstalled 3 or 4 times, then support at the server reinstalled 2 or 3 times. They told me that the softaculous installation was creating a glitch in the files. I don't totally believe them, once maybe not 4-6 times. The main thing is that I have WHMCS up and running

easyhosting
softaculous installations do sometimes not work fully, its best to use a direct download
