[not a bug] php 5.4 breaks backupfunctions.php

Server upgraded to php 5.4 and WHMCS Version: 5.2.7 unaffected except for this error being thrown.

Our documentation states that we currently do not support PHP 5.5, which is specifically due to them deprecating certain mysql functions:
