Beware Domain Renewal Group Scam

easyhosting

Recommended Posts

We have been alerted that some of our customers have received ( we have received the same), by snail mail, a letter from a company called Domain Renewal Group (http://www.domainrenewalgroup.com/), asking them to renew their domain names. Although this document may look official, it is not. Please ignore all correspondence from this company.

Do not send any money to the Domain Renewal Group – this is a * designed to convince you to transfer your domain registrar unnecessarily and at a high cost. Those who pay this company generally lose that money and, in most cases, their domain name as well.

Yep, being getting those for years. One of my customers "bite" on one of those, sent in $35 to renew the domain and when WHMCS sent her a over due notice she called me up telling me she already paid.

I asked her who exactly did she pay and yep it was domain registry of america. Believe it or not, she called them up and got a refund.

I've heard of this before, but have yet to receive such a letter myself though. The phone number on that PDF is a Markham, Ontario number and is listed with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) as Domain Registry of Canada.

BBB Rating

Based on BBB files, this business has a BBB Rating of F on a scale from A+ to F.

Reasons for this rating include:

  • 24 complaints filed against business
  • Failure to respond to 17 complaints filed against business.
