WHMCS CEO Matt Posted September 28, 2010 WHMCS CEO Share Posted September 28, 2010 Hi, Yes we already have a module written for the new HTTP API integration method that is being trialled by a number of users. Matt
niyyie
@Matt, I desperately wish you are preparing a version for your DirectI module and not just your ResellerClub module.
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted September 29, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted September 29, 2010 The DirectI module has been discontinued for quite some time now.
bigsean
just curious to know whats the advantage of the new ResellerClub http API over the current one? thanks
niyyie
Guys, ResellerClub module defeats the purpose of WHMCS. Why should I use I use a module that creates login details with resellerclub.com and causes heavy confusion since clients login to both client area and domain control panel. DirectI module on the other hand, keeps everything within WHMCS. I have been using DirectI module all these years and will stick to it. Please re-consider.
GGWH-James
Guys, ResellerClub module defeats the purpose of WHMCS. DirectI module on the other hand, keeps everything within WHMCS. I have been using DirectI module all these years and will stick to it. Please re-consider. Not to hijack the thread; but, could you answer a few questions for me, niyyie? We've been using the ResellerClub module, but saw in the Wiki that we can also use DirectI. However, not all TLDs are supported with the DirectI module though. Does the DirectI module allow clients to utilize the DNS Management functions that the ResellerClub module lacks? Also, can you say which TLDs will not work with the DirectI module? We really don't like the fact that with ResellerClub we would have to give our clients an account for the SuperSite as for one, we don't use or update it; two, this would cause some confusion to say the least; and three, we don't want stuff ebing ordered through the SuperSite and want everything to be ordered via our site (namely, WHMCS) or why would we even have it when we could just use the SuperSite to begin with? The other problem I could see is that the wiki says the DirectI module uses a single customer account for all domains. I'm not sure exactly how switching from the ResellerClub to DirectI module would work with that. That's something that I'd probably have to contact support regarding. WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted October 4, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted October 4, 2010 Your clients don't need to know about the supersite at all if you don't want to tell them about it. The DirectI module is old; .eu domains won't work and any TLDs introduced subsequently; .tel and possibly .co.

The DirectI module is old; .eu domains won't work and any TLDs introduced subsequently; .tel and possibly .co. I realize that, nor do we tell them about it. However, if we were to offer them DNS Management, and we do want to be able to, we have to either move to the DirectI module or give them the SuperSite info. This obviously doesn't affect those who also host with us since they use our DNS via cPanel, but I'm talking about the domain only clients.
WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted October 4, 2010 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted October 4, 2010 The DirectI module doesn't have DNS Management functions either. You can't use it via WHMCS whichever module you use; their API simply doesn't support DNS Management so there's nothing we can do.

The other option was we were going to offer a very limited hosting package that would allow for DNS management only for a buck a month or something. That's what happens when you don't sleep for a couple of days after working straight through.
orudge
While it is apparently not possible to modify the DNS via an API, it is possible to display a custom-branded DNS management window, that only supports those DNS features. The appropriate API documentation appears to be here: http://manage.resellerclub.com/kb/answer/954 It just needs to be set up as a POST query, but you first need to generate an auth token with this API. Would it be possible to implement this feature into the ResellerClub plug-in? It would be very handy to be able to tell people they can modify their hosted DNS by clicking a button in WHMCS, rather than having to try to make them go through the full ResellerClub interface, which we'd rather avoid. Thanks!
orudge
It appears there is now the possibility of manipulating DNS records via the API directly: http://manage.resellerclub.com/kb/answer/1091 Is this something we may see in a future version of WHMCS? WHMCS Developer WHMCS Andrew Posted January 12, 2011 WHMCS Developer Share Posted January 12, 2011 The http API version of the ResellerClub module contents have yet to be finalised, but it will replace the module currently in WHMCS when they discontinue their SOAP API. We will try to include as much as possible in the module that can be done in WHMCS
jotacese
I've installed the 4.4.2. incremental version to fix some problems with ResellerClub domain registrations. Now, I can register .com domains for example, but once the domain is registered, when my customers use the "Launch Mail Forwarding Manager" & "Launch DNS Manager" they received this error message on the ResellerClub Admin Panel new window: [r6] Error Message: Please provide valid login Credentials.Invalid Login Credentials. I've configured my ResellerClub branded URL. The URLs I'm obtaining in the pop-up windows are: http://mybrand.myorderbox.com/servlet/ManageServiceServletForAPI?orderid=XXXXXXXX&auth-token=&service-name=mailfwd http://mybrand.myorderbox.com/servlet/ManageServiceServletForAPI?orderid=XXXXXXXX&auth-token=&service-name=dns Any one can help me? Thanks in advance
vincent1
Can you let us know if the ResellerClub module has been updated to account for imminet change please: Dear Reseller, IP restrictions on the SOAP API will go live on the 10th of March, 2011. The old URL's will be deprecated on this date so please make the required changes before the deadline. Changes Required: For example, if you are using a URL like: https://www.foundationapi.com/anacreon/servlet/APIv3 or http://www.foundationapi.com/anacreon/servlet/APIv3 You will need to change it to: https://soapapi.com/anacreon/servlet/APIv3 or http://soapapi.com/anacreon/servlet/APIv3 respectively. Important: You will need to white-list your IP address in the Control Panel to continue using the API. The details of how you can do this are given here: http://manage.resellerclub.com/kb/servlet/KBServlet/faq416.html This means WHMCS will no longer work to register domains as of tomorrow? Thanks, - Vincent

niyyie
I still prefer if one could have the option of disabling the Resellerclub from creating new independent accounts with RC, and instead, register all domains under a specific account like the defunct DirectI module did.
nobaloney
I've noticed plugins available for WHMCS which include Domain management through WHMCS without the need for the user logging into a Logic Boxes (ResellerClub, NEO, etc.) account. My understanding from looking at those modules was that they could be used to eliminate the need to log into a ResellerClub account. Does anyone know? Are any plugins available that give you enough control over DNS & nameservers so you don't need to give out LogicBoxes account login details? othellotech
No idea about DNS (as we run our own) but the inbuilt RC module handles domain reg/renew and nameserver setting, so the end user never gets an account or needs an account at Directi
nobaloney
I thought I'd read in these forums that the old DirectI module worked with one account and the user never had his/her own account at ResellerClub, but that the new ResellerClub module did give everyone their own account. I'm following up a suggestion I've gotten in a telephone call with Chris Pelling at Net Earth One two days ag; I'll see how that pans out, and if positive I'll report back.
