  2. It's not exactly so... When a user registers a credit card on your site using Stripe, he authorizes you to charge it for any invoice you'll issue in the future. So, whenever your WHMCS issue a proforma invoice, it tries to charge in on the credit card. No issue at all with "consumer protection", but if you want to disable this behaviour you need to work on the WHMCS billing system (i.e. proforma issuing, deleting a not renewed service at the expiration, disabling autorenew for domains and so on)
