J!WHMCS Integrator ver 1.5.1 released

Recommended Posts

I am pleased to announce the release of version 1.5.1 of J!WHMCS Integrator. Here is a quick run down of the new features and abilities added in the latest release:

New Features:

+ User Manager - Now you can see which users are matched up to which WHMCS users

+ Find users to match accounts up to

+ Break matchups if they are made in error

+ Add new accounts in either WHMCS or Joomla if they don't have one

+ Group Manager - Now you can assign individual Joomla users to one single WHMCS account (for corporate or business customers that need multiple logins on the same account)

+ Sync Manager - Resynchornize your WHMCS user data to your Joomla users

+ Check Installation - now you can check your installation from within Joomla, to be sure the API username / password is working correctly

Authentication Plugin:

+ Verify a user's credentials in WHMCS prior to logging into Joomla

+ Ability to login with either Joomla (username/password) or WHMCS (email/password) credentials

+ Options to automatically create new users in WHMCS or Joomla if they don't already have accounts

This release works with WHMCS 4.1 stable however the XML response and the non-md5 password options are not supported, those are in the works for the next release.

Cost is $120. Contact us if you would like more information!

So let's start again then, hopefully without any more trouble makers when we are in constructive discussions with the OP about the price, etc.

1. It is clear to most that the price of this mod is simply way too high and thus inaccessible to the majority of potential purchasers. Regarding your reasons for setting the price given earlier, that you only want to appeal to people who are serious about integrating authentication for their WHMS/Joomla framework, please understand that we are all serious about that. That is why we are here. That is why we are interested in purchasing this mod. Just not at that price.

The truth is that the vast majority of Joomla users do not have money coming out of their ears at all and have very limited budgets. Don't forget, yours is not the only mod that is purchased. I have purchased several and most others have, too. Add it all up and it can start to get very costly.

In fact, please don't look down upon what is actually a very loyal potential user base for your mod who will not mind paying a reasonable amount of money at all. The community will benefit and thank you. But the way things are, you are confining the use of your mod to members of an elitist, exclusive club consisting of one user called Pete who has more money than sense. How is Pete more serious than us? Simply because he has more money to burn? Think about it. ;)

2. WHMCS currently offers the ability to switch off registration for users unless they have purchased a product. Does your mod comply with that? If not, then could you resolve that issue so that it facilitate that task?

Thanks.

Regards,

Chris

Hi Chris,

I understand the reasoning in your argument regarding the price, and I certainly hope that you understand that I am not trying to categorize myself or my customers as being in an elitist group by suggesting that if you don't buy my product you aren't serious about integrating the two.

I wholly believe in the idea of the free market, and if my product falls flat on price, then so be it. I'm not trying to limit my customer base, I simply believe that what I provide is worth the price I set. If it isn't worth that to the majority, then the market will offer alternatives; either way, the market wins. If my product becomes the Beta Video of the mod world, then the market will dictate that.

Regarding switching off registration for users, the idea in integrating Joomla and WHMCS is for a unified login and template layout so that Joomla users and WHMCS users don't have to face two different login screens, confusing many and stumping others on what their password (and username / email) is exactly. I would consider adding that functionality in a future release; as it is, the system plugin can be disabled, defaulting back to the standard com_user registration page and the authentication plugin can be set to not automatically create WHMCS users.

Thanks for the clarification, Stephen

I really do think that the ability WHMCS offers to be able to limit registrations only to users who have purchased a product is extremely important. As such, just the single login on its' own is not of any further immediate interest since the above functionality would disappear.

By all means get in touch with me when and if this is added and the price is reduced. Good work anyway and that is truly appreciated.

Best wishes,

Chris

EDIT

Subscribed due to genuine interest. ;)

I'm going to just add my 2 cents. I have bought the mod. I believe the price to be worth it. Steven is really great. I have never ever had better support. Yes the price is a bit high for just a mod but what is any of our time worth? I believe good products cost money. Steven has saved me hours of time. I'm happy to pay for his!

And don't forget that Sam Walton proved that you can make more money by charging less.

If you charge $50 for this mod and sell five times as many, which price gives a bigger profit?

If I was striving to be the next Walmart and peddle inferior products made by someone that doesn't care about quality and craftsmanship, then I'm sure I could go this approach - but I'm not interested in being the next Sam Walton to take over the world - I just want to make the best product I can.

i was really intrigued by this until i saw the price tag, I am currently working on a new site on our dev machine (even tho we have a site being built as is) and this could let me do so much more, but i am not willing to pay $120 to see if it will work the way i want it to, if you were to bring down your price you will get more orders for this

Ok, so im now tempted to pay the ammount, what i would like to know is, does this include an integration module in the sense that it will make whmcs look like the joomla site?

If it does then im more or likely to buy this

AFAIK it does not. The primary function of this is to act a login authentication bridge so that the login functionality is integrated between Joomla! and WHMCS, thus requiring only one. It does not address any other integration requirements between the two which you would still need to do manually. EG: It provides no template integration.

fair enough,

think ill leave it then, at $120 i would expect more than loginshare tbh, im not paying an extra few hundred to get someone to integrate my whmcs to joomla

Hi Outhost,

The JWHMCS Integrator component in fact does provide a bridge for the user to login to both systems, AND it provides for integration of the Joomla template and the WHMCS template. JWHMCS takes a page from your Joomla site, breaks it apart, parses the urls for images and css and js and wraps it around your WHMCS content. Most of my customers have only had to make a few minor adjustments to their WHMCS style.css to prevent it from overwriting their Joomla styles. There have been a few that have had javascripts that conflicted with WHMCS, but that is being addressed in the next release. Even fewer customers have had problems with the template itself, primarily with Yoo Theme templates, but that has even been addressed and a work around available in the upcoming release.

If you want to hold off on the cost, I am working on providing a monthly lease option as well as a trial period for the component, and plan to have it all wrapped up this week and available by the weekend.

Thanks,

Hi Steven,

sounds good, am interested more in it now, once i get a look at the trial i will give it a blast on the dev site, not 100% decided on joomla yet, but this could push me over the edge, once it works ill be happy to pay out right

Nowhere in the above do you mention that visual integration between WHMCS and Joomla! is provided by your product. And that is still not clear to my simple mind from anything else you have said either.

Are you saying that no further visual integration work is required? I mean, for example, to achieve the kind of integration that one is more familiar with my way of the basic header/footer type, or even a much fuller integration? Does your product also acheive similar results in addition to bridging authentication?

If it does, as you now say, achieve a full integration both visually and for authentication as well, then please elaborate and demonstrate how so that your message regarding what your product does do is more clear.

This new revelation will certainly create in my mind a much higher perceived value for your product. But I do need any further comments to spell it out finally and very clearly so that there is absolutely no further ambiguity.

Please understand that the visual integration to which I refer and understood that Outhost also did, is not actually evident by example on your own site which is very bare indeed.

Thank you.

You are correct in that it does not actually specify that it does the visual integration; I am in error that my "press release" if you will does not specify that, however it does say that these features are added to the previous release... I "assumed" it would be understood, and will be more clear in the future.

It does do the visual integration as you refer to it, my site uses it, and in fact is using the current 1.5.3 beta 6 (not yet released) which allows for modifying the breadcrumbs in the template, using regular expression matching to speed up url parsing, frontend cron tasks, and more - all of which will be released very soon.

I see and thank you very much for taking the trouble to clarify that. Between my last post and your reply, I have actually been re-reading your own site docs and the text on the Joomla! and did get some idea of the fuller integration achievable than I got from reading this thread.

Your last comment is very welcome indeed and provides the clarity that I was somehow missing. May I suggest that you take a further look at how you are promoting this product because it could be clearer. As your own site does not really show other Joomla modules integrating with WHMCS, it would be helpful to have a couple of screen shots with what is possible. This is something that needs a visual demonstartion really.

Anyway, this now appears far more impressive than I first realised and I congratulate you in having done some most excellent work.

I will make provision for purchasing this in my budget. ;)

Just paid to have this setup for me by Steven.

There was one minor problem but that was more related to my joomla install, once that was done the whole integration was done in no time.

I am now working on the final parts of my site (like content)

Have to say to anyone that is thinking about getting this, go for it, makes integration so much easier and i wish that i had found this a long time ago

there's nothing compelling you to pay that much

If you value your time at $80 per hr, its an hour & a half of your time.

If you value your time at $5 per hour, its worth 24 h hours of your time.

Personally I think my time time is worth more than mucking around for weeks trying to acheive a result that some-one has nicely packaged up for me into a usable solution.

So either write your own, or don't use it.

Well done to Steven in creating such a useful addition to WHMCS

I have to agree, $120 is to much.

A lower price will bring more sales.

I thought the same thing at first. However, after making my purchase I can honestly say it has been worth every penny. The integration is well-thought out and seamlessly fits into Joomla without any iframes and it syncs accounts easily.

The way I figure it - if I were to get a programmer from getafreelancer or elance to do the work it would've cost more money and I'd also have to spend several hours writing up specs and communicating back-and-forth with programmers. It's hard to find a good programmer as it is, let alone a programmer with advanced knowledge of both Joomla & WHMCS.

The fact that J!WHMCS was developed by someone with experience in both Joomla & WHMCS goes a long way. When an update to either system is in place, I like having piece of mind knowing that the developer has vested interest in the script and is dedicated to making it better and better.

As far as support, I can tell you that Steven from gohigheris has gone above and beyond the norm to make his solution an exact fit for our custom needs. Because of his great support and dedication to the product, I felt it was necessary to share my experience so others can benefit from this great product. I would definitely recommend this product - it truly is a time saver and makes a joomla integration as easy as it gets.

Hi,

I bought that component and finally I came to the result: with the support of Steven, it should cost much more. He always looked into problems fast and repaired it. The fastness of Steven in releasing new features is incredible. You can see integration, what is really cool here now (in my opinion). My JWHMCS-site: http://www.nowdoo.at - It`s fresh installed and not running finally now. Austria Hosting and Domain company site with german language. I´m also making a german translation file of jwhmcs. JWHMCS is the best!
