Just curious why...

Recommended Posts

Why in forums, do people that reply to a post find it necessary to copy the entire post in their reply?

I can understand a line or 2, or breaking it up question by question, but I find it silly that the OP can show up 10 times with only 14 posts!

(I know some smart ass is going to copy this when they reply!)

Its the QUOTE function and sometimes a thread gets side track and another person will respond to the original post and the only way to let ppls know which post you are referring to is to quote!

Sorry, I had to do it!

But it is way over used, I see it like I just did 2 or 3 doen from the OP!

Have to admit I was tempted until I read this bit. ;)

I see it all the time, where it's a one or two word reply and a 7 paragraph quote. A bit annoying, I'll admit.

Some things will never change though.

It sure seems that way, redrat. I've been participating in forums for 25 years now, and this lazy trait of quoting an entire message chain, only to add a "me too" post has been there all along.
