Nominet module error

sco

Recommended Posts

My nominet module has been ok, and now the latest signup give me an error on registration

An Error Occured

Command syntax error

and thats it. I have checked the domain for spelling, spaces in the fields, my server firewall is good. Now i'm lost and need some pointers before someone actually registers the domain

I since have seen the client ticked WHOIS opt-out, is this causing an issue? As I can't untick it now in the client domain admin area. I can untick it , but upon pressing save it just comes back

Command syntax Error, can be a number of things. Check some of the below:

- Valid nameservers have been submitted

- Check that the user has not chosen Limited company and not submitted a valid company registration number

Unfort it is a bit of a guessing game to find out what did not go through.

Going into the WHMCS MySQL database and finding the relevant WHOIS OPT-out field, this was set to YES, I deleted the YES so it ws left blank.

Re-submitted the domain to be registered and it went straight through.

I have sent a ticket to support

Hello Denesh - not seen you around anywhere in a while :)

We opened a ticket and had another replacement module sent to us which seems to have fixed the issue

Hmmm could you upload it please so we can download it? I was told I needed to contact Nominet as the module is working fine. :?

Scratch that - this one has started throwing errors too. This is getting both wierd and annoying as we're now manually sending off registration requests - it's either that or revert back to the PGP module.

Client ID: xxxx

Domain: xxxxxxxx.co.uk

Error: Command syntax error

The annoying thing is that there is no log of the EPP commands and so you can't work out why the registrations are failing. We certainly can't go on like this though :(

We are having the most odd issues with this. It works fine for a few orders and then stops working, giving the Command Syntax Error again. Very frustrating indeed. If anyone has any further suggestions, I would be really eager to hear them as Nominet are saying the issue is not their end but nothing has changed our end and it worked fine for the last 5 registrations and now stopped again.... :(

We're seeing this error on 3.7.2:

Registrar Error

Error: Connecting to ssl://epp.nominet.org.uk on port 700.

The error message was 'Success' (code 0)

But telnetting works fine so it isn't a firewall problem...and giving incorrect login details also gives the same error. Do Nominet only reload their EPP access rules every 24hours? eg I've just added our server's IP to EPP Live so do I need to wait until midnight as on the testbed EPP?

Nominet's EPP updates take effect immediately - I can confirm this after updating our own this weekend :) Make sure that you're using the right IP address though - if you've got an IP based site that you're running WHMCS from, the conntaction will still normally be made from the server's actual main IP address and so this needs to be listed with Nominet

Well.. we're getting the error when we're doing registers with the predefined nameservers as part of the order process, when trying to push them through manually from within the admin, everything. Doesn't seem to matter what I'm doing anymore.

Haven't had time to go to 3.7.2 and test/bug report yet though.

This Nominet EPP module is totally useless.

1 minute it is working fine and the next it's throwing "Command syntax error", despite everything being correct on the contact information / registrant name / type & nameservers :!:

More work is needed on this module, especially some validation (i.e. don't allow WHOIS opt-out on domains which have a Limited Company type, make nameservers required).
