tweaked
I just recently switched from Card Services/Linkpoint to CDGCommerce/Quantum gateway and it is far cheeper. Also works quite well. They have great support. With Linkpoint I had trouble getting some account information straightened out too, it was quite frustrating. We use standard Paypal as an option too. People can do subscriptions if they have a paypal account or pay with their credit cards without having a Paypal account. For us, it works perfectly between Paypal and WHMCS, no issues. No need for Paypal Pro for us.
Redundant
Hey Folks, thanks for this thread and your experiences. After some struggles with Google Checkout, and woes with PayPal Payments Pro, neither of which I could get to 'fully' work properly, I reread through this thread. Decided to try out CDGCommerce/Quantum based on feedback posted here. The first thing I found on their website was that they have a Free Gateway (with your CDG account--which is only $10.00/mo). The really nice thing is, I was able to sign up for a test account with their Free Gateway (Quantum), without first applying for the Merchant account. This was great because with all the friction Google and PPPro were giving me, I wanted to know if it was going to work prior to paying/applying. Worked on the first attempt. So far so good. Thanks again for the posts that pointed me over to CDG/Quantum. For those wanting to check out and pre-test their gateway: http://www.cdgcommerce.com/free-payment-gateway.php
abaden
I'll go ahead and throw a new name out there: Merchant Plus. While I haven't directly used them, I've worked for 2 companies that have and we've never had a problem. Their gateway (Navigate) is compatible with WHMCS, and they have always been polite and professional in any dealings I've had with them. I'll definitely be giving them a try should I decide to setup a merchant gateway for my WHMCS installation (using PayPal only, right now). MediaIgniter
We did back when we first started out, but only for a couple weeks until we got a real merchant account. At that time they had problems here and there, hopefully they're not like that anymore.
MarkB
I would have to give CDG Commerce a thumbs down. Had a horrible experience trying to get signed up and finally just cancelled. I am using PayPalPro still but I will continue to look and hopefully find something better.Jerel Jerel, I was going to sign up with CDG Commerce today. Before I do, I'd love to get your input as to the problems you had with the signup process. Mark
Redundant
I can give a little input regarding the CDG Commerce signup process. Unlike 3rd party gateways, they have requirements such as: 1) Terms of Service, 2) Privacy Policy 3) refund Policy, and some other site requirements. The application is also a full blown credit application, requiring articles of incorporation, ID, business license, EIN and other attachments. My site is still not live and requires a password to access while in development. They were understanding of this and my application was initially put on hold because I didn't have the TOS, Privacy, displayed. I posted some draft versions and they re-evaluated the site the next day. Approved the changes and sent the application to the bank. That was suppose to take 3 days, but was done in 24 hours. I can see someone considering the process difficult if they do not keep good records and or have the necessary financial documents ready. But, for someone that does, it was nothing out of the ordinary and the entire process was completed in under 5 business days, which included my app-suspension until I addressed the missing web items. Can't speak to their service yet. But, so far I am impressed with their speed in handling things.
BAJI26
I had no problems at all I didn't go through as much as Redundant said, I filled out the application, faxed it back and got approved, if I remembered it correctly. But all in all it was a P.O.C. (Piece Of Cake) and since then 0 problems, any questions I had was taken care of via their live chat.

phenglai
Jerel, I was going to sign up with CDG Commerce today. Before I do, I'd love to get your input as to the problems you had with the signup process. Mark Mark, My problems stemmed from the entire process trying to get signed up. I filled out their online form and then waited for things to begin. Almost instantly, I started getting 2-3 emails a days from them. I recevied one that told me it has been 0 business days since you submitted your application. I was later told that email was not supposed to be sent out. Anyway, I got the same email until I cancelled my request. I received an email telling me my online doc was ready for review. Upon reviewing the documentation that was in PDF, I found lots of things wrong. I had marked my site was secure, the online doc did not reflect this. I had marked I had taken credit cards beifre, again the doc did not reflect this. I found several mistakes. I chatted again with someone and they told me they would email the pdf copy as they showed their pdf copy to be correct. I waited a few days and it never showed up, by this time I had passed the 10 signup period and they had placed my account on a hold rather stopping the signup process. I contacted support again about not getting the PDF and they again emailed it, telling me my spam filter probably caught. I never received this one either. No logs in the firewall or email server of any email of this nature. I finally got a hold of someone who agreed to fax the application to me. The fax showed up a few hours later and it looked correct. Then I found out I needed another form filled out. I began to fill the document out when I ran into questions as to what was needed. I got on their live chat and asked a few questions but the person on the other end could not answer my question. I was told all I needed to do was fill out the form. It was a form that is independent of the application, as authorization form of some sort. I just wanted to know what it was and what I needed to put on it. I eventually contacted someone else who told me it was an additional contqct form and that I was free to just sign it and fax it back blank if I was a sole proprieter. So now I am ready to fax the document, suppliments, and all other info back to them to get things rolling. I tried for 2 days and got a busy signal every time I tried to fax. I contacted support and was told to keep trying and maybe check my fax machine. We send and receive all day and CDG was the only outgoing faxes that failed. At this point, I figured it was time to give up. I had spent 2 weeks trying to save 10 bucks a month and it was just not worth it anymore. I see people all the time saying great things about CDG, and I have no doubt they are good, but I just happen have a very bad experience signing up and some of the support people I found to not be very helpful. I hope that answers your question and I hop you have better luck than I did. Jerel
pmarek
google checkout is very nice AND cost effective with automated transfers to your bank accounts (no fees with the transfer)!
phenglai
Jerel, $30 extra is for recurring billing option for WPP (website payments pro) "Introducing Recurring Payments for Website Payments Pro Now you can automatically bill your customers What does it cost? $30 per month in addition to the regular Website Payments Pro monthly fees." https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/Marketing/general/ProRecurringPayments-outside Banar, I was just informed that PayPal will begin charging $30 additional for recurring payments. It has always been free up until the noticication I received to day. So if you have recurring payments and paypal pro, it will cost $60 USD now. What a rip!

dkent
Is anybody using 2checkout? looks good and not too expensive.Anyone with experience with them? I was waiting for someone to ask about 2Checkout... OK, well here are the good things I really like about 2Checkout, firstly i'd just like to mention that my experience with them has been great (really). 1. BEST Support - with 24/7 live chat via their website. 2. BRILLIANT Anti-Fraud Processing. 3. CHEAPER Fees - even cheaper than PayPal. 4. PAYMENT METHODS - accept credit cards and PayPal - without a PayPal account! It's only a one-off setup fee of $49. I didn't join straight away, but when I went back to their site mentioning that all users can now accept PayPal payments from clients without actually having a PayPal account - I was quick to sign up!
WisTex
I would say LinkPoint / First Data Global Gateway has been good for me. Reliable and good customer service. I was using LinkPoint before I became an agent for them. PayPal has also been reliable as well, although I have never tried their Pro offering. I also have Moneybookers setup and am going to add Google Checkout as well. I haven't had much experience with accepting payments via Moneybookers and Google Checkout, so I can't vouch for their reliability. But LinkPoint and PayPal Standard have always been reliable for me.

BionicInternet
The best thing you can do is to get a Merchant account and something like protx, this gives you control and saves worrying about people like PayPal.
easyhosting
In the UK we are restricted to which PP we can use, worldpay etc are far too expensive. We stopped using paypal as they work with thiefs and scammers and think this is OK. we had over 300 GBP stolen from our paypal account when our WHMCS was hacked into, when we complained to paypal of these unauthoriseed transactions, paypal informed us ehtta yes they agreed that the transacations were unauthorised, but we were not entitled to have this money refunded, which is illegal as the money was stolen.

rldev
mns,I'm just starting with WHMCS. I don't have an answer for you. I hope senior members will make it clear for us. btw, why would anybody want to pay $60 or even $30 a month + processing fees if CDG Commerce can do it all for $10/month? Am I missing something here? Because CDG charges almost 4% a transaction for clients using Corporate cards and/or Rewards cards. Doesn't that constitute everybody? Or did something change?
