Make sure you're using the right Remote Access Key (it can be found under WHM at Cluster/Remote access >> Setup Remote Access Key) by viewing http://www.YOURDOMAIN.com/YOURWHMCS/admin/configservers.php?action=edit&id=1 at the very bottom. Also make sure you have the right root password (you have to be using a root account under WHM).

Hope this helps!

This is only partially correct. You need either the root or reseller level password *or* the hash, not both. You can also set up acounts using reseller level access, unless you are creating custom accounts. Reseller access means that packages need to exist that match yours in WHMCS.

There might be more information on what went wrong in the cPanel error logs.

/usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log

Among others.

No, allow_url_fopen isn't required - it's an unknown & unhandled error hence the generic statement you're getting instead of something specific so you'd need to have us take a look at the issue. I presume as you haven't opened a ticket you are running a free trial so aren't entitled to support but as soon as you are we can have a look and let you know what the issue is.

I'm having a similar problem with cPanel WHM, but instead of "Unknown Error", I just get "Account Creation Failed", but no more information than that.

I've tried it using the access hash only, and the password only, but neither works. When the password is set, I get the idea that the authentication works, because when I'm not logged into WHM, I can click on the [WHM] button under WHMCS's Configuration > Servers page and it logs me in just fine. But I don't know how to check the access hash authentication, I just trust that my copy-paste worked.

Is there a way to turn on debugging, so I can see more information about these errors? I'm brand new to WHMCS, so I'm sure to hit more problems before it's all peachy.

Thanks!

I have never been able to get this to work without using both the whm username and password. But that's not the issue here. I would strongly suggest that if your are using cPanel 11 that you examin the following:

1. In your security center check Password Strength Configuration

2. Set this figure to 50 or 60

3. Re-attempt account creation.

What I was able to observe is that settings higher than 60 will cause account creation to fail in WHMCS. Even though the passwords generated by WHMCS are pretty secure, they do not make the grade according to WHM. For example "password123" and "abc123" rate as a 60 in WHM and so does this WHMCS generated password "aoPAIInKPX". That is how I discovered the relationship here. When I attempted to create the account manually with my Password Strength Configuration set at 80, I was unable to use this password to create the account manually as well. Just thought I'd share a little something with a community that has shared so much with me. I hope this helps someone.

You misunderstood me. You can use the username and hash, or the username and password. You don't use the username, password and hash all at once. ;)

Hi There

When a client creates an account I get 2 errors when the order is accepted.

1. With the access key set and not the username/password the server tells me

Server Command Error

Login Failed

With the username/password set but not the access key the server tells me

Server Command Error

Account Creation Failed

2. When registering a domain it tells me

An Error Occured

Invalid client IP: xx.xx.xx.x

Can anyone help?

Login Failed - means what it says - if using the access hash need to enter username & access hash - not just access hash

Account Creation Failed - this means an unknown error is occuring and you'll need to open a ticket for us to have a look at it.

Invalid client IP - means you haven't registered your server IP with Enom so they can set it to be allowed to access your account (http://wiki.whmcs.com/Enom)

It is WHMCS's random password algorithm. It needs to make passwords stonger. Inside WHM in cPanel I had to change my security from 80 down to 50, to allow WHMCS created accounts to work. How do I make it so WHMCS creates longer and more random passwords?

If it's due to the WHM password rating change then simply change the required level down to 50. The passwords WHMCS generates which are 8 random letters/numbers are in no way common or insecure passwords so not sure why the WHM rating scheme would be rating it so low.

WHM 11.23.0 cPanel 11.23.3-R25120

I get the same error:

Server Command Error

Account Creation Failed

My security center password setting was ZERO!!! I changed it to 40 and that didn't make a difference. I haven't done anything to my server and now WHMCS isn't creating accounts anymore.

WHMCS Support logged into my server and identified the problem. It had to do with cpmod: x3. I figured our that WHM/cPanel was updated and now the package management and theme management has a new look / feel. This prompted me to check the module settings for my packages and I noticed the theme was in upper case. So to fix my problem I went through all of my packages in WHMCS and modified the cPanel Theme from X3 to x3 and it works. Simple problem solution for me. Good luck to everyone else.

The problem with my WHMCS config was the packages. It's very important to make sure that when you create a product in WHMCS, that it corresponds to a package that's set up in WHM (mine's done via cPanel). The name of the WHM package must be entered under Configuration > Products & Services > Module Settings in the "WHM Package Name" field.

I found the cpanel password hash by viewing the WHM application, and clicking "Setup Remote Access Key" on the left-hand side.

Hope that helps!
