I have set product type as 'other' and while ordering from  clientarea it does not shows password field.

Am I doing anything wrong ?

only setting the type as VPS would show a password field automatically during configuration - the other three type options won't show it.

if you need a password field, but it's a non-hosting product (e.g other), then you might need to use a Product Custom Field.

Was this behavior changed in any version ?

i'm happy to be contradicted, but I don't believe so - i've checked back in v5.3 and that didn't ask for a password... v7.8.3 doesn't ask for a password - neither does v7.10.2

in fact, it wouldn't make any sense for it to do so, because they may be products that don't require a password - so why would WHMCS automatically want to create a field for one ?

Since on earlier versions it used to show password field for other products as well, if I am not wrong.

how far back are you thinking ?

Other product was used to avoid hostname and ns fields and password field used to show up while ordering a vps.

I don't remember about the version .

I will check and update here if I am able to find that version where it worked.
