Hi,

We use SolusVM, with KVM for our VPS.

The issue is new account get the account log in details but not the root password that is made when the VPS is set up.

I've tried: {$service_password}but it's just the VPS login not the root password.

SolusVM has a custom field called: rootpassword

So maybe? {$rootpassword}

What's the issue with sending root passwords via email? Every VPS provider I've ever been with has sent root passwords via email and that includes the provider I'm currently with, Digital Ocean - one of the largest providers out there. It's perfectly safe, and on login you just force a password change so it won't be an issue.

Sending any password via email is just insecure. Just because "everybody does it" doesn't mean it should continue to be done

Ok, but I think if some of the largest companies in the world send temp root passwords to email they know what they're doing. Since, you know. They're successful and all. But not really, no. Which is why we SSL and TLS and PGP, etc. etc.
