are you using a Logicboxes registrar (resellerclub, resell.biz or netearthone) ?

 

if so, it's likely related to this thread....

 

Issue: If you place a ccTLD registration (.CO, .CA, .ES etc) via the Supersite or API & get the following error: Invalid domainName For Given ContactType, it means that you have used an invalid contact (General Contact) while registering the ccTLD.

ccTLDs must be associated with country specific contacts only.

 

Error format: Via Orderbox/ Supersite: error: Invalid domainName For Given ContactType

Via API: hashtable: statuserrorerrorInvalid domainName For Given ContactType

 

Example: While registering a .CO domain, you need to create & assign .CO contacts. If you use a Geneal Contact, then you will face the error: Invalid domainName For Given ContactType

General contacts are meant for gTLDs, not ccTLDs.

 

Note: While creating country specific contacts, please make sure that the PIN is correct. The Telephone number must have the correct country code & it must be valid.

 

.mx is a ccTLD (e.g it's a TLD for a specific country, Mexico) and if you're trying to register it via WHMCS, then you'll be using API.

 

if it is a Logicboxes issue, you might find it quicker to open a ticket with your registrar directly rather than going to WHMCS support (though there's nothing to stop you doing both), tell them the domain you're trying to register and the error message you're receiving and see what they say.

you would never edit that file, you should follow the instructions from the documentation below to adjust it - but I don't think you will need to for your issue (unless the registrar/whmcs supports tells you otherwise).
