erwin123
We hold off updating WHMCS seeing version 7 becoming the main version. But seeing howmany problems version 7 have we want to first upgrade from 6.1.2 to version 6.3.2 Is this advisable or is it better to wait until we upgrade to version 7? If its advisable to upgrade to 6.2.3 how do we do this? I don't see any patch versions below 6.2.3. Thanks, Erwin - - - Updated - - - (fixed title)
brian!
Erwin, personally, I think it depends if what you currently have with v6.1.2 works fine, and/or whether you need any new features/fixes added to later v6 versions. there have been at least a couple of security updates to v6 since v6.1.2, so that's something to bear in mind too. if you get your license direct from WHMCS, it might be an ideal to get a free developers license from them; that will allow you to have a test installation where you can duplicate your existing site and database, and then update that to v6.3.2 to see if you run into any issues.
erwin123
Hi Brian, Thank you for your reply. v6.1.2 is absolutely stable for us so I think we'll hold off then for a while until the bugs in v7 are ironed out.
twhiting9275
I'm not sure what bugs you're referring to in v7? I haven't seen anything 'bug worthy'. Now , different, yes, but different is not always buggy
WHMCS ChrisD
Hello Erwin123, The WHMCS 6.1 Branch has been end of life since September 30 2016, WHMCS 6.2 went End of Life on December 31, 2016. The 6.3 Branch will reach end of life status on March 31, 2017 outside of this you can not use patch sets to go between versions e.g 6.1.x to 6.2.x or 6.3.x you'll need to use the Full Release sets, if you do not wish to upgrade to Version 7.1.x then I'd recommend upgrading to version 6.3.2 which is still in a supported state for any security fixes.
