adtastichosting
Anyone else having issues with using maxmind? I've been using it for years signed up through whmcs back when the partnership with whmcs first started. All of a sudden now it is not working and says invalid key. Cannot remember my login account to maxmind to check anything on their end but when I go there i don't see a free version anymore. Is there no longer a free version thru whmcs? If you click the link in whmcs to sign up a new maxmind account it takes you to a page asking for money.
PascM
I believe there's no longer any free version, besides If memory serves properly it wasn't actually a free version but it was an amount of free queries. You need to check with MaxMind and if you sign with a new account you need to contact them again and ask them to enable the old minFraud types.
sentq
I think you're talking about this promo: https://forum.whmcs.com/showthread.php?92942-Discontinuation-of-free-minFraud-query-promotion
adtastichosting
well I signed up a new account with maxmind and got a new key for it with their paid version. But now I am getting a "permission_required" error when the whmcs module tries to do a fraud check. Anyone know what i need to do to fix this?

adtastichosting
You need to contact them. I opened a ticket with maxmind per your statement. However, seems kind of odd to me. IF WHMCS offers this module out of the box and all it asks for is you to input your key and gives you a link to sign up for maxmind if you don't already have an account and you use the link and sign up with maxmind and get a key to input into the whmcs key field then shouldn't it work right out of the box? There is nothing in the whmcs documentation for maxmind that says anything abut enabling old minFraud types so perhaps an update is in order if it is not going to work out of the box now.
PascM
Maybe they have an update lined up don'w know, perhaps someone from WHMCS can update all of us here.

Yes would be good as it seems apparent at this time the maxmind module is broken. Because I sent a ticket requesting as you suggested they enable the old minFraud types and it is now working.
zomex
I was always really impressed with how long MaxMind/WHMCS offered this free service, to be honest I feel MaxMind deserve to charge and profit from the service they provide.
penguin
We had the same issue. Maxmind recently updated their billing for products and in the process cancelled the legacy free service what WHMCS users used to receive. They did admit however that they failed to notify anyone about this.
adtastichosting
Yes I just figured it out the hard way on an account signup I believed was not fraud and drilled down to the fraud alert to see it was blank and said invalid key. No telling how many I might have missed prior to that.

PascM
So nice of them.. another useless module at this point. Actually it's not, you can buy credits and ask them to enable access for you. They will do it no questions asked
adtastichosting
So nice of them.. another useless module at this point. Yeah it works like a charm and they were very good about getting it up and running for me quickly. Didn't even need to buy credits since I am on pay as you go and it gave me $5 credit to start and how often we have queries that will last a good while.
Vox
Noticed this a while back so tried to sign up for an account. They said that my site was not a recognised e-commerce site... So when I queried them and said that I sell hosting using one of THEIR recognised partner site software solutions (WHMCS) complete with the branding at the bottom of each page they just said I had been rejected! Oh well...
