'Tags' Not Saving in WHMCS Knowledgebase

Hello,

I'm a seasoned web developer for at least a decade now but I just recently was handed a project to create support documentation for several software (script) packages in the company's WHMCS based Knowledgebase.

I am completely new to WHMCS and the article adding and editing is going just perfectly and things are coming together but I have one gnawing problem.

From day one (a couple of months ago) I've never been able to input 'tags' in the provided space in the article editor and have them do anything at all for me except simply disappearing completely upon saving the article.

Now WHAT am I doing wrong here? Is there some special syntax like comma separation or space separation that I need to try again for the 30th time or something?

Note that I ONLY have been given author access to ONLY the knowledgebase section of WHMCS and please don't ask me what version they have without telling me how to find out first :) Thanks!

it was a new feature brought in by WHMCS when they released v6 - unfortunately, they never bothered to inform us how to use it... it's not mentioned in the v6 documentation and only gets a passing mention in the changelog.

the only way i've found to add tags to the kb articles is to directly add them to the database table, tblknowledgebasetags - but it sounds as though that won't be an option available to you. :?:

you could try opening a ticket with support and see what they say... if there is a method that we don't know about, feel free to share it with us!

Thanks for the info. Question: Is the tags issue fixed in the latest release V6.1.1 ?

if by issue, you mean the inability to enter kb tags through the admin area - no... i'm not even sure if WHMCS consider it an issue.

v6.20 is supposed to be released soon, but i've no idea if the issue has been addressed in that either.

I am able to add tags via Admin, and they show up in the DB as expected. I followed these docs:

WHMCS Documentation - Managing Tags

Where they don't show up is, in the knowledge base, on articles.

Looking at the WHMCS Demo from Client side and the actual Tags in Admin area used on various articles, I don't see the tags there anywhere either.

Hi,

The Ticket Tags documentation is located at http://docs.whmcs.com/Support_Center#Tags

They are displayed in the Tag Cloud on knowlegdebase.php in the Six template, and you can also browse articles by tag in the admin area under Support > Knowledgebase.

I trust that clarifies matters.

it does - thanks John.

although you must have just typed that in now - as it's not in the Google cache version of that page from yesterday! :)

Hi,

I see Matt expanded upon the documentation today, but looking at the article history, I can see tagging was documented prior to that:

Enter tags which describe the content of this article. Begin typing and any matching existing tags will be displayed, press the return key to add the tag. The most popular tags will appear in the "Tag Cloud" in the knowledgebase. Tags can contain multiple words and a single article can have multiple tags.

Thanks Revision, I just couldn't work it out until I saw "press the return key to add the tag" why I never thought of that I don't know
