vpnzforum
Hello, I'm working on integrating PayPal and am curious what happens when a customer cancels their recurring subscription at PayPal? Is the subscription canceled in WHMCS? Also can a customer cancel this subscription from the WHMCS client area and will it cancel the PayPal subscription? Thank You.

vpnzforum
If the customer canceled their billing agreement from PayPal is an IPN returned to WHMCS to set a cancel date?
DennisHermannsen
No, it isn't. The client will still be able to pay manually for the server. And PayPal will keep transfering money as soon as the client has an active subscription, even though the product is canceled in WHMCS.
vpnzforum
We are setting up recurring billing. If a customer joins the service via PayPal and cancels from the PayPal admin area and we don't catch it.. their service will remain active?
DennisHermannsen
WHMCS will notice that the service aren't being paid for.

evcz
the biggest is issue is the other way around (happening to us frequently) Customer cancel the service on whmcs but don't go on paypal to cancel the subscription. At that point you will then keep receiving the money not justified by any invoice, money is added to customer credit and if you re not quick enough no notice that cash flow the 45 days windond to return the money will be closed and you will also have to pay for the paypal fees to return it manually... - - - Updated - - - the biggest is issue is the other way around (happening to us frequently) Customer cancel the service on whmcs but don't go on paypal to cancel the subscription. Simply put some sort of disclaimer or note in cancelation emails that states that if the client has a subscription, he needs to cancel it, and that PayPal will keep transfering the money if they don't. Also say that you won't refund the money.

WHMCS Support Manager WHMCS John Posted July 31, 2014 WHMCS Support Manager Share Posted July 31, 2014 Hi, In the interests of customer service, once you receive the cancellation request it might be worth your logging in and cancelling the subscription via the PayPal website. You can find the Subscription ID under the client's Products/Services. Then use the History > Transaction search to find and cancel it. Takes 2 mins, means customers leave happy and are more likely to return to you in future.
vpnzforum
Our main concern is if someone cancels at PayPal and not from the WHMCS member area. I know an IPN is sent when a client cancels but I was wondering if cancel date is set in WHMCS? We would like the "Auto-Terminate End of Cycle" selected when PayPal profile is canceled. Is that how WHMCS works since we can't see the source code.

In this case, your normal reminders, suspension and termination polocies will take place.
